This content is protected I'm watching tne Zbik match and I can't help but to think he can really learn alot from Antonio Margarito, he doesn't posses k.o. Power but looks like he has the ability to wear down opponents, and he throws excellent body punches. Another thing although he is tall he seems to prefer the inside fight game, the only thing I see his is lacking is the high punch out put and the determination to impose his size on zbik. Any thoghts? Margarito in his prime was a beast and still a solid test for these young prospects/contenders.
Are you suggesting that Chavez Jr. be matched against Margarito? I seriously doubt that will happen. For starters, Chavez Sr. is Margarito's idol, and I don't think he would beat up his idol's son. Second, Margarito would put a serious beat-down on Jr. It wouldn't be a good idea for Team Chavez.
A tall fighter that prefers to fight inside sounds like a guy that doesn't know how to properly use his God given gifts. A fighter that lacks KO power, but does not have a high punch output sounds like a counter puncher a la Mayweather, Toney, etc. However I don't think that is the case for Chavez Jr.
thats why he will take a lot of punishment and is a ko waiting to happen if nothing changes hence the wbc is holding martinez back.
Yeah IF he wants to be a tall inside fighter then he can definitely learn from Margo. If he wants to be smart and use his size to his advantage, rather than rely on tremendous will and chin ala Margo then he'd be better served learning some outside game.
Yeah, Im not sure if he just had something to prove but if he is going to fight the way he did against zbik he needs to punch more and tighten his defense, or learn to throw fast hard straight punches to u use his reach. In my experience, the straight punches are the first punches to go once I'm tired, so I concluded those punches take alot more conditioning than inside punches.
Chavez jr should stay as far away as possible from Margarita. Coach Freddy doesn't need that type of influence on any of his fighters. The wild card is a clean place and would never allow any type of cheating.
