How wild does it get down there whenever a Mexican-American like Ortiz is about to have an important fight?

For me, everything depends on how much the fighter identifies himself as Mexican, if they use the flag on their trunks, if they speak spanish, if they show respect for Mexican traditions and basically if they show the famous Mexican pride when fighting a better boxer, that's why it's hard for me to fully support Ortiz after the maidana fight and DLH after the paquiao one,

What should they have done? I'm not Mexican, so that's why I'm asking.

No quitting I guess ... Like what Margarito did in the Pacquiao fight. Margarito even with his eye socket fractured didn't show any sign of quitting.

    BTW I'm not Mexican ... I'm just guessing ...

  5. mexican americans are not really mexican. if a mexican fights a chicano i ll always root for the mexican. when chicanos fight, i dont really care that much. im rooting for floyd mayweather in his next fight against ortiz. in his bout against jmm, i was for the mexican.

If so, then I wonder what happened to Morales' rep when he quit during his last loss.

i think mexicans realise he was weight drained and couldnt do no more they have followed his entire career and know hes not a quitter the body can only take so much and making the weight for pacquiao was clearly too much

I talked this over with a mexican once, he told me that mexicans from the us are basically gringo's and not considered true mexicans like morales and chavez, sounds a bit like a mean thing to do especially if the boxer is a really proud mexican guy but it happens.

They definitely dont, him being an american prettyboy and beating up Chavez twice is the reason I think.

Its funny seeing Mexican fans of the sport slam him for retiring against Pacquiao (even when his Mexican trainer told him to) yet they don't raise the point about Chavez retiring against de la Hoya...

They must have both been pretty drained at weigh-in actually. Morales blew up 10 more pounds on fight night, while Pac gained 15.

Being Chicano myself, I tend to support the Chicano fighter over the Mexican born fighter when they fight each other, but that is not always the case, like when Morales fought Bobby Velardez, I rooted for the Mexican Born Morales.

I don't always support the Mexican or Mexican American, like when Gomez fought Gatti I rooted for gatti.

Any Mexican who blindly supports Mexican fighters but not Mexican American fighters is pure *****, plain and simple.
