I am a Floyd fan and English but Haye just boils my **** , I love watching youtube clips of Haye getting bashed off a 40 year old Carl Thompson . It warms me cockles it does cor blimey mary poppins and knees up mother brown.
I am a big mayweather fan, and although I don't dislike haye, I can't say he is a fave. And I am from london too.
I think some more perceptive people appreciated Lennox when he was around, but the passage of time normally is kind to successful fighters, so I get what you are saying. I think Haye does/will attract fans, but if he loses, or retires as he says he will in October, then some people might just give up on the Heavyweight division. I know quite a few casual boxing fans, and they tend to only watch Brits fight, and even then only the ones that are hyped up by marketing: Hamed, Calzaghe, Hatton, Haye etc. A lot of these people probably haven't even heard of Carl Froch, and would never watch a fight with say Martinez and Williams. Hagler is a legend, and my all time favourite fighter
It is a petty that More Brits don't follow Froch, he is great. I can't blame a guy like Haye for doing what he is doing, as it is working for him, but I will never buy it. What is your fave Hagler fight? , mine would have to be his great showing over Sibson & his all action showdown with Hearns.:happy:happy:happy
I like Haye but not a Floyd fan, but can clearly see he is the best in the World and would defeat Pac.
I like Mayweather as a boxer but hate his attitude outside the ring. On the other side Haye has been a joke inside and outside the ring since he moved up in weight!
Got to be The War! Classic line from Hagler to the ref during round two when asked if he could see through the blood from his cut okay. "Well I ain't missing him am I?" Also love the stories about his spartan training routines out on Cape Cod. I think Marvin was the last of the old school fighters, before all the show and tell stuff started in boxing.
Did Marv not train wearing army boots in the snow, and thought that trainers were for Glass Jawed pussies? :rofl
I'm a Floyd fan and kinda indifferent towards Haye (and the whole Heavyweight scene in general really).
He did indeed pound the roads of Cape Cod wearing army boots, and said trainers were for 'sissy's'. Indeed, if there is to be a follow up to Iron Chinned Warriors by the Team Elite/Chincheckers franchise then I would say Marvin should play a prominent role. His mandible is one of the greatest in history. Tommy Hearns hit him, with one of the greatest right hands in the sport, and he walked through them. Legend :good
Genuinely they are my two favourite fighters, i am a "*****" and I'd support him regardless of circumstance and the same goes for David Haye! I love a big fight and these two hype them best of all, regardless of opposition. I am expecting a lot of abuse ha ha
Surely Marv should be in the centre of this poster? A minor oversight in the marvelous oeuvre of Team Elite/Chincheckers. :good
