Give Burns the credit he deserves, he beat the no1 in the world, & Burns was a HUGE underdog.

I mean not long after Burns had fought for the world title, Rendall Munroe, Jason Booth, Brian Magee Paul McCloskey & Willie Casey(interim) all fought and LOST their title fights.
The only british fighter who won a world title was Froch against Abraham, & you will find most people rate Froch higher than Burns anyway.

& we all know Cleverly was cleverly handed the world title, so he doesnt count;)

& as for Irelands very own Macklin? Just watch what happens when he fights for the world title & gets his head used as a speedball against Felix Sturm:lol:

Good to see that Dan Rafael has Ricky Burns as his no1 in the SFW division:good

I do give him credit for the Martinez fight. It was a great win and I was cheering him on all the way through it. BUT, you can't fight a disgraceful level of fighters and still claim to be a "World champion". At the end of the day he's just another fighter with a belt around his waist.

Dan Rafael is a disgraceful journalist.

A win over Nicky Cook does not make you the number 1 in your division. It's seems to be a common misconception amongst people here that Martinez was at the pinnacle super-feather when he really wasn't. An impressive win, yes, but don't kid yourself.

The only opponent of one of those fighters that was anywhere near as bad as Martinez was Steve Molitor, and he was still better than Martinez to a pretty decent degree. Nishioka, Rigondeaux, Bute and Khan are all on a different stratosphere to Martinez.

    no1 is no1, & thats all that matters:D

Ricky Burns beat the no1, he beat the BEST. End of story. Haters will keep hating, but they know the truth deep down in the pits of their overstretched stomachs:yep

Billy, grow up. I'm Scottish too and find your behaviour (and Dunky's) pathetic. Burns won his title from Martinez. Martinez had beaten no one of note except for the solidly domestic-level Cook, who had beaten the previous title-holder Arthur. He was given the title because Guzman vacated. He certainly hadn't beaten anyone to deserve it.

You have no right to pick on anyone's resume considering Burns' last two defences and his upcoming one. It's ****ing pathetic.
