he clearly needs this fight first so that bute can see him as ATLEAST an equal.

to be fair kessler is the mando for the S6 winner as well. so he can fight stieglitz and then fight the s6 winner. bute should probably focus on pavlik and dirrell to keep himself relevant because he's in real danger of being frozen out now.

He has done zip at SMW.

Spinks did zip at heavy before challenging Holmes. Conn did zip at haevy before challenging Louis. Leonard did zip at MW before challenging Hagler.

So based on your logic they where shiite right?

Bute too has been promess a shot at the S6 winner! If Ward win the tourney i don't see the reasons for a Ward-Kessler 2 ! If it's froch the winner i definitly want to see a secound fight between them!

    Oh. So he is.

At least my gaffe was more excusable and less embarrassing than crosbyshow's. :yep

Between the Germanized name, and his facial features being more Teutonic than eastern it never would have occurred to me that he wasn't native kraut.

    German national, though? (dual citizen?)

For now Bute is the most protected fighter in the SMW division. Talk is cheap, and saying in the media that your willing to fight everywhere, does not really mean much before you actually back up your words! Until then I doubt Bute and Interbox willingness to fight Kessler in Denmark.

You think that Bute is more protected then Stieglitz?

When it comes to fight out of your "comfort zone" then yes!

Bute have fought the slightly better competition overall.

Stieglitz won his WBO title from Balzsay. Bute won his IBF title from Berrio.

    Balzsay is better than Berrio.

    Edge: Stieglitz

    Since then, though?

Stieglitz has defended against Acosta, Gutnekht, Ornelas and Gevor.

Bute has defended against Joppy, Andrade (x2), Zuniga, Miranda, Brinkley and Magee.

Edge: Bute almost every step of the way.

Gutnekht and Ornelas are OK, but not really better than Andrade, Brinkley or Magee. Acosta and Gevor are much worse. Zuniga and Miranda were probably indeed tailor-made and in Bute's "comfort zone" but they're much better opponents than Gevor and Acosta (probably close to even with Ornelas and Gutnekht, too).

Bute's IBF reign has been more than slightly better. Longer, and except for Joppy (who's a lesser trophy than even Acosta or Gevor) against better fighters.

I never said champion reign... I said overall competetion... Stiegletz have fought both Berrio and Andrade...

That being said, I want to make it clear that I think Bute is a great fighter and his performances widely surpasses Stieglitz. But in case of opposition I dont think there is that big of a difference!
