I get the impression that hes looking to cash out now It seems that Ukraine trip brought him back to earth with a bang I was wondering why he stopped calling Lee out after Lee agreed to fight him on the flip side Fitzy shouldn't feel to bad about being sent home Khurtsidze demolished Fionisio Miranda tonight in 1 round
Jaysus he must have taken a right hammering to change his tune so drastically. At least it means he might gain a bit of perspective and not go chasing mad fights. Better to find out in the gym than get mangled live in front of the TV cameras
im not a fan of Fitz at all but to be fair I would pick Khurtsidze to beat Lee and Macklin so he shouldnt be too upset bout it. The Georgians only bout 5 foot 4 but hes like a machine. Never stops coming forward. His fight with Njikam last year is well worth watching if you aint seen it
This is it Slap ardy already posted it http://www.boxingnews24.com/2011/06/andy-lee-gears-up-for-bryan-vera/
Great night and cracking undercard. Place was buzzing and a brilliant venue. Thank deck for the early Ko cos I managed to get the last train home.
Anyone know any pubs in Dublin where I can watch the Haye V Klitschko fight? Its a Saturday night so I'd imagine a few pubs will show it. I was thinking Hairy Lemon might show it or a football/Rugby match showing pub?
No Alio injured himself and they binned it off. From a journalistic POV it was a wasted journey, not a single man in the house with an Irish connection. From a boxing fans POV - it was a *******.
Hi Nutter Im a little confused why you have made the above changes to the article posted on Greenjab.ie, if you have something to say about Fitzer why not just say it rather then mislead people into believing that they were made by Stephen Sharpe.
Dont be going all paranoid on me, I pasted an article found here http://www.boxingnews24.com/2011/06/fitzy-has-a-change-of-heart/ If this has been changed from the origional article, take it up with them. Theres always plenty of Irish boxing related articles on this site. Posters on here constantly put stuff from here on this thread, thats how I found it. Out of interest what parts are changed:huh
Another from the same site, and i aint changed a word:deal Macklin-Sturm: Can Matthew make it past Sturm’s jabs June 11th, 2011 This content is protected By Eric Thomas: Matthew Macklin (28-2, 19 KO’s) has reportedly been looking very good in training camp for his June 25th fight against WBA Super World middleweight champion Felix Sturm (35-2-1, 15 KO’s) for their title clash at the Lanxess- Arena in Cologne, Germany. If there was ever a time for the 29-year-old Macklin to beat the 32-year-old Sturm it’s right now with Sturm starting to show a little age a little rust from not a lot of recent activity. However, Macklin is going to have to try and find a way past Sturm’s excellent jab because Sturm still has that weapon working for him very well in in recent fights. Macklin doesn’t have a similar weapon to use on the outside and will have to try and get in close to land his combinations before Sturm makes a mess of his face. Macklin has the skills to win, but is lacking badly in experience against world class opposition. That might not be such a bad thing because it means that Macklin hasn’t had to take the kind of punishment that a lot of fighters typically have absorbed by the time they’re 29. But by the same token Sturm hasn’t faced a lot of high quality opposition either during his five years as the WBA middleweight champion. He’s been very carefully matched pretty much the whole way and kept away from dangerous guys like Arthur Abraham, Kelly Pavlik and Jermain Taylor. But none the less, Macklin is the fresher of the two. But he’s got to go after Sturm and not let him dominate on the outside otherwise this is going to be ugly. To beat Sturm, Macklin has got to fight better than he did in his last bout against Ruben Varon. Macklin barely beat Varon by a close 12 round decision. Granted, Varon is a top contender but Macklin looked little better than him.
