I tend to agree with this. Stonehands called him the best technical HW of the last 20 years (Or that performance).

Joe Louis didnt need blackburn, its a well known fact that Tyson definitly DID need Kevin Rooney.

Tyson was neither frustrated or scared, he was simply out of shape and lethargic, hence throwing one punch at a time.

Douglas only looked good against a short guy who wasnt throwing much back.

Lol this is ridiculous. Douglas was not a great fighter. He fought a great fight. There's a difference.

That night he bested the iron mike tyson, a man thought to be a combination of all the greats that preceded him.

All we know is that tyson had underprepared. We don't know if full preparation would have made a difference or not which is why a rematch was so important.

Building douglas up to something he wasn't is crazy. We all saw him against holyfield. Had that been tyson that night who's to say the fight wouldn't go exactly the same? Then again who's to say it wouldn't just be a repeat of tokyo?

Douglas was about as great as rahman. They both pulled it together for one night against an opponent who was great and underprepared. The difference is that lewis got his rematch and proved himself the better man. Tyson never did.

do you think holyfeild and tyson met the same guy? do you know what douglas weighed?
the douglas holyfeild met would be in trouble against tyson or Leon Spinks!
douglas was a great fighter he just couldn’t perform because he wasn’t groomed as a winner.
against tyson he was up for it but the guy was often fickle, he already had a lot of low paid hard fights and understood the system if your face did not fit.

listen, if tyson doesn't get a pass for poor preparation than neither does douglas.

it's either a valid excuse or it isn't. in my books it isn't.

tyson went from a fanatical trainer to a poor one as soon he fired rooney he pulled out of something like 12 fights afterwards yet never pulled out of one under rooney .
