    Round 9

Nguyen walks into a big right hand but lands one of his own. Nguyen very animated now, throwing a bevy of shots at Del Valle. The Puerto Rican is a bit taken aback and goes into defensive mode. Nguyen is now fighting on the front foot where he's more comfortable. Del Valle is able to bull-rush Nguyen to the ropes but can't get much work done once there as his instincts tell him to just lean and take a breather. A few body shots from Del Valle. Nguyen just rests against the ropes, not fighting his way off. Nguyen takes a chopping right to the face. Again Nguyen waves his hand invitingly toward his face, taunting. Del Valle is throwing arm punches now. Nguyen backs up and leaves a jab floating in the path of Del Valle's face, then steps in with an uppercut to the chest. Trading, both missing. Del Valle doubles a hook from head to body. Now a chopping right, hitting the guard. Nguyen leaning against the ropes again. They hook together and miss. Hook to the shoulder by Del Valle. Nice hook lands for Nguyen

    10-9 Nguyen

Del Valle throws power with both hands up and down, good chin very exciting fighter.

Steve Smoger shows Joe Cortez how it's done.

This is a good win for DV. He needs to work on some things, though, like not smothering his own punches. Also, his defense is a little leaky. love his combos and the attention he gives to the body. He'll probably win a title or two.

    Round 10

Nguyen has a hook ducked and is caught dead to rights with a counter right hand that shakes his head. Nguyen shovels to the body. Time out called by Smoger. Tape on Nguyen's gloves. Buddy McGirt does a quick and professional job. SLUGFEST!! Both land. Nguyen keeps hurling a sloppy 1-2 but has a bit more meat left on his fork than Del Valle. A couple of slapping hooks from Del Valle, slapping them out with visible strain as he tries wherever he can to find a spot to rest. Nguyen walks him to the ropes. Del Valle flurries into the guard. Nguyen again on the ropes. Del Valle has him right where he wants him, hands down and flopping around as Nguyen himself has tired a bit - but Del Valle still can't land to save his life.

    98-92 Del Valle

Ricans needs to take notes from that asian guy Dat Nguyen. Definition of toughness and never quitting.

Time to get rid of that "Knee Gal" attitude of Boricuas.
