i was just going by what steve farhood said about their amatuer glory. one was ranked 3 the other was 4. and ngyuen was good enough to earn a full scholarship on boxing to the same college as vernon forrest. thanks for clearing this up. hilario is awful like you said. he couldn't even get arrested for domestic violence if he hit his wife.

When he listened to Buddy, he did good, when he didn't, you saw the result. Being in shape for every fight separates the good from the great imo. Nguyen fight well for a guy out 14 months though, but you saw the difference in being in true shoe and good shape.

Del Valle and Gonzalez both won by UD.

Gutierrez and Nguyen were both basically punching bags (although both kept gamely throwing back).

i read that dat beat andre direll in the amatures in 99'.

i agree, i think dat looked a bit like iran barkley, winging these punches and just courageously taking a beat without blinking. the one thing that i think dat could have used more of is timing, i think he has a good sense of timing with his punches when he is disciplined. but that other guy was really good for a prospect.

To be honest, it was on at the same time as Narvaez vs. Urina...and that one got more of my attention while they overlapped. Del Valle vs. Nguyen wasn't a bad fight at all and was worth keeping the corner of my eye on...but it wasn't great or worth missing any of Narvaez vs. Urina for.

Del Valle looks like a "Knee Gal" waiting to happen. Imagine a guy that can punch walking him down.
