Shame, IMO that would have been Bute's big breakout fight.
    (Apparently so did team Kessler)

good info - hope its accurate on the S6 winner & Bute in MSG. In the past, Bute had said he'd love to fight in Los Vegas or MSG (maybe hint of that deal?)

Every Bute fight you watch, that arena is ridiculously packed & sold out. Its kind of stupid to go out of your way to another place and make less money as a promotion. Personally, as a champion, you should be able to defend yourself at your home, not be a traveling champion. If someone wants your title, they have to go to YOUR home, not the other way around.

Regardless, i'd like to see Kessler live up to his smacktalk, though he's gotta be a promoter's headache. Cuz now they're obligated to put their money where his mouth is, or make him look like a chump. And Bute's promoter has that edge coming in on cutting the deal.

my opinion on the winning outcomes -
    Ward 55% / Bute 45%
    Froch 35% / Bute 65%

At the time neither options are viable; but if they had a choice they would go after the belt, so If Interbox could choose between fighting Kessler in Canada or Froch in England they would take Froch.

Let's see first Sauerland counter offer :deal

I called you an Idiot because I got tired to quote the man saying he is willing to travel. Which should be in case of a S6 winner vs Bute. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E46WUoav0lU[/ame]

Now his promoter Mick *Hennessy is negotiating a deal to attract Canadian-based Romanian IBF king Bute, 29, to Nottingham, saying: “It’s almost a done deal and it looks like being at the *Nottingham Arena in one of the first two weeks of September.

“Bute’s camp is showing plenty of interest and they look as though they will agree to the fight over here with a big home crowd for Carl."

A not Bute fan could think, that Bute is doing anything to take on a 60 - 80 % Kessler in order to build hes own legacy....

Is Bute willing to fight Kessler in Denmark., thats the quistion..................??

At this time of his career, Bute could call out and demand his fights...............if he wants to improve, he has to step it up......................

Jens talking sense. Good stuff. Note however that if a Stieglitz fight is to make this kind of money german TV-money is essential and could be a stumbling block.

Looks like Stieglitz is the sensible choice. Bute could be only the second option now.

In this business money talks. Sauerland can offer Stieglitz a career payday. This fight will never go to pursebids. Stieglitz can take the offer on the table or make a lot less money against another challenger. It's his choice.

Kessler allegedly made 12.5M DKK per groupstagefight in the s6. This is a little less than 2½M USD.

I think the interest was/is there and that the idea of a WBO route came to Sauerland later. Furthermore the trip could also be seen as a way to keep Kessler's name hot on the US market.

See my post above. This fight will never go to pursebids. Stieglitz will be presented with a career payday against Mikkel Kessler. If he refuses the opportunity vanishes. Stieglitz will have to fight another challenger for less money, and a Kessler-Bute fight becomes a very real possibility again.

Hey, boxfan99, long time no speak...

Yeah, Bute's been willing to fight anyone, anywhere for a few years now...

    ...it's all good.:good

It's just money getting in the way. Kessler would fight Bute in Montreal too, if the money was good. :good

Only problem now is that Bute (again) won't have anyone good to fight...

...best available is Johnson or Dirrell.

    I'd prefer Dirrell...

Bute already presented Stieglitz with a career payday the only difference was that Bute wasn't his mando and Stieglitz still hoped he could fight lesser opposition for a while; what if Bute offers to Stieglitz more then Kessler? Would Stieglitz prefer unification or defence?
There are a lot of double standard flowing around : to say Stieglitz is an important player on the SMW scene because he helds a belt is equivalent of saying Calzaghe-Kessler wasn't a match for the undisputed SMW in the world because Bute held the IBF at the time. Stieglitz was KO'ed by Berrio and Andrade, Sauerland can make him the equal of Bute on every TV show, that won't change the facts.

If Bute has a deal for a fight with the S6 winner, why would he risk it for a fight with Kessler?

There are of course no real deal though. Kessler was also promised a fight with the S6 winner by somebody at Showtime, but they can't promise that. The winner has a manager - he and the boxer decides who the will fight. But there is no doubt, that Showtime will be very interested. And that is the fight Interbox rally want. Bute fights in july. Should he then fight Kessler and then the winner of S6? To hard with those two fights right after another.

Bute will come to Denmark and fight, if the money is there? But it ain't. Bute and Interbox should make more money on a fight in Denmark, than they do on a fight in Canada and that will be hard to do.

In Denmark Bute won't draw that many more at the gates. Perhaps 25.000 instead of 20.000 against Stieglitz. So Sauerland has no real interest. It is true, that Interbox has send it's fighters abroad in the past. And as it is mentioned, it is the economy, that is the deciding factor. It is very hard to make a fighter travel, if he easily draws 15-20.000 people. That is the case with both Kessler and Bute.

Does that mean, that anybody is ducking anybody? No, it just means that boxing is business, and it can hard to make a fight, as it doesn't always make sense businesswise, even though it would be a great match up. The extra drawingpower of a huge star in another country may be limited. When the countries are apart from each other with 6-9 time zones, primetime on tv is just to far apart. Primetime Canada is in the middle of the night in Europe, which makes the value of the tv-rights to a fraction. Primetime Denmark is afternoon Canada. Somewhat better, but not perfect. Bute-Kessler or Kessler-Bute is very hard to make. 200 million years ago when the tectonic plates hadn't drifted apart, it would have been easy, but we waited to long with evolution ;-)

PS. I asked Chris Meyer - CEO at Sauerland - at the press conference mentioned in the article about Kesslers next opponent, where a fight between Kessler and Stieglitz will be fought. His reply was that in Denmark they could sell three times as many tickets at a price level three times as high as in Germany. So it will of course be in Denmark. Kalle Sauerland is downplaying it, but Kessler will not be fighting Stieglitz in Germany. Sauerland will probably get an agreement or win the purseoffer.

Did you asked Chris Meyer if they even tried to get Bute to Denmark or they just supposed Interbox and Bute would say no?
