**If DAVID HAYE KOs W. KLITSCHKO, could it revive USA's interest for heavyweights ?**

If Haye can somehow knock Wlad out, would Americans be more interested in the heavyweight division, knowing Haye probably has more natural appeal for the American market ?

Could it lead to renewed interest from Americans for a follow-up with Vitali Klitschko... ?

 

No, because Haye has zero following in the US. Even less than the K brothers themselves. For Americans to get interested in a fight you need at least one, better two conditions taken care of

a) a widely known American (based) fighter is taking part in the fight
b) the fight is happening in the U.S.

If Haye wins vs. Wlad and then fights Vitali in London for the unified HW title nobody outside of hardcore boxing fans in the USA will even hear about the fight. A non-event. It'd be on CNN news just like the soccer world-cup winner is being announced but nobody in America takes notice.

 

I disagree with a) since it's been proven many times that non-American fighters became popular in the States.

I do agree though that it's important to have a follow-up on such a win, in the States. Well, Vitali vs Haye could land in the States if HBO decides to truly back it and market it in a big way.

Absolutely. American's are far more likely to accept Haye than Wlad. Assuming after the fight, the winner goes on talk shows, who is more likely to get casual fans interested? The smooth talking, charismatic Haye or Wlad?

Haye is far more likely to bring casual interest back in America.

If Haye KO'd Wad it could open up a whole world of potential in the US, as far as media exposure. Once Haye gets on some prominent tv programs in the US he will be on his way to stardom, same way Lewis achieved it in the US. Haye's personality is tailor made for US media. But first he has to beat Wlad, which will not be easy. To say the least.
