Even if gbp pumped millions in - which would never happen in reality - primetime would never ever come close to Showtime. To be close to Showtime they'd have to show more than a few boxing events and mma. They'd have to have much much more. So the question is stupid and those who think it would and have voted that way are probably ****stani cabbies...
Yes Pakstan Cabbies or Pakstani Entrepreneurs who sport blackberry cellphones, Italian suits and briefcases with Swiss made watches/bank accounts and German sports cars and the poorest of whom are comfortably middle-class. Honestly, I think you underestimate American power, money and influence. Primetime should be talking not just with GBP but reaching out to Dana White for GBP and MMA exclusivity in the UK, Primetime simply needs to be bold and receptive to the Americans and great things will come Primetime's way courtesy of Khan. Primetime should promote itself to GBP and Dana White as the guardian of American boxing and MMA interests in the UK. If its managers and Primetime PR gurus get it right it could be in line for multi-year multi-million dollar deals with the Americans. A channel dedicated to showing all GBP/MMA cards in the UK is exactly what the Americans want.
If I was a Primetime boss and I knew like they do that Richard Schaefer was going to visit them I would give Richard Schaefer what Pakstanis call "The Whiskey and Kebab treatment", Meet him at the airport, Let him down swirls of Whiskey and wolf down whole Kebabs, Accord him every hospitality and play the "victim" that strives to uphold American boxing interests in the UK against an over bearing Sky and watch the dollars start to come in. If only Primetime could portray itself as the sole American boy to Golden boy and Dana White in the UK!
Why are you so obsessed with primetime? Showtime is a subscription entertainment channel showing drama and movies as well as sports. Same with HBO. There is no equivalent in the UK. No matter how much GBP waste on them.
Do you actually KNOW who owns SKY !!! It's RUPERT MURDOCH & he owns the ****in world FOOL News-Corp of which Sky is but one small subsiduary make & break goverments & i don't think that some ****-pot boxing promoters going too make Murdoch lose much sleep even if he knew who GBP actually were. Newscorp have a 100% track record of destroying anything & anyone that ever opposes or threatens them:smoke
your a ****ing troll ,youvementioned this loads before ,another khan fan boy just what this forum needs
Who's veiwing platform do primetime use & what newspapers would they use to advertise in. NewsCorp would strangle them & GBP & leave primetime too being just another internet stream. GBP are minnows standing in the shadow of giants. If the impossible happened & Primetime became popular the SKY would buy them out on the cheap or wipe them out.
Primetime is miniscule in comparison to Sky! Amongst many other interests, Rupert Murdoch owns Sky, Fox News Network and the largest TV broadcasting company in Asia (Star). His news network is the third largest media corp in the world behind Disney and Time Warner. If he felt inclined to do so he could buy Primetime and GBP with his pocket change. I hardly think Sky are having sleepless nights.
I think Primetime serve a purpose - for fighters that believe they should be PPV attractions in their own right and for fans to be able to watch events from elsewhere that haven't been picked up by Sky. It's a mutually beneficial relationship, they provide a service and make a few quid and fans get to watch certain events should they be willing to pay for the privelege. They aren't in competition with Sky, and have no intention of ever doing so.
It is a big IF though! It is a silly post by the OP as it is never gonna happen. GBP Are not gonna invest millions into some small time PPV channel.
Tanchico, I like how you have started this thread without any idea whatsoever who Showtime are, the kind of channel they are, what kind of fights they show and their policy for selecting them. It was a throwaway comment in a vid by a pissed de la Hoya which you bring up every ****ing second day. Until you have more evidence that GBP are interested it's just nothing. Just like you don't know who Showtime are, Oscar doesn't know who Primetime are. He'd probably never heard of them before the Khan fight. You've both just seen they have similar names, and put 2 and 2 together. An utterly ridiculous speculation.
Primetime become showtime?! has this place just gone compeltely mental? You think Goldenboy would pump millions and millions into a UK based TV channel, for the sake of 1 fighter? Who fights 2 / 3 times a year?! Your making the Showtime / HBo - SKy Sports / Primetime point - Showtime has about 20 million (yes 20) subscribers in the US, HBO 30 million. So to make the relationship similar - Primetime would need about 6.5 million subrscibers compared to sKys sports 10 million? Setanta couldnt do it with a **** load of top class boxing and Premiership football, yet you somehow believe AMir Khan and Goldenboy will? Its so stupid its incredible
I think you overestimate the amount of money they have. Since De La Hoya retired they've been losing the promotional war with Top Rank, I doubt they'll invest multi millions on the off chance of beating sky in this country. Setanta had alot more than boxing, football rugby, cricket, and still lots bucket loads and closed down. It's not happening.
