I wouldn't bother responding to him seriously, ever. It's that Rain Man/Maxwell, completely deluded about everything Khan and hates anyone in Boxing who's said a bad thing about him.
Golden boy are in a position where they have to back khan, they can't be seen as not fighting his corner in his fight with sky. If golden boy choose to do nothing it may come to a stage where khan chooses to leave them for top rank, although this is unlikely as khan has renewed his deal with them and has a contractual agreement of 3 to 4 more fights with golden boy. But if it were to come to khan leaving, he may leave at a stage where he is at the top of the boxing pyramid and at a stage where golden boy wil onlyl really make a return on the huge investment they have put into khan. For oscar the best thing for him would be to find a u.k broadcaster for ALL golden boy shows, now sky pick and choose what they want, and are doing a bad job of it by not showing the FOTY in ortiz vs berto. For primetime this will be a win-win situation because they can just get HBO/Showtime feed with international commentary thus not having any major cost issues, they could sell the shows on PPV and sharing the profits with golden boy. Oscar could also look to go to ESPN because it does look as if it is failing in its fight with sky sports and doesn't seem to be doing any better of a job than setanta, golden boy fights on ESPN would certainly increase subscription but if I was golden boy Primetime would be the most profitable option. PPV's such as Mayweather vs Ortiz with good advertising could sell from 70,000 to 100,000.
It is pretty obvious that ESPN are not that interested in boxing at the moment. Also they are not trying to beat Sky, they have a very good relationship with Sky Sports. Mayweather vs Ortiz will be on Sky Box Office or Sky Sports!! Please stop with this Primetime BS as it is never gonna happen.
ESPN will have to soon get interested in something pretty soon because I can't imagine them making any profit at all in the u.k with how its going at the moment. If they showed the best cards from america then it would certainly help increase subscription. Golden boy HAVE to support khan because it is likely he could become their biggest asset in 12 to 18 months. That means unless sky drop their policy of regecting khan fights golden boy must support amir and look at primetime as being the u.k broadcaster for all gbp shows. Mayweather vs Ortiz will not be on SBO, sky have long said they don't like the idea of 4pm PPV's, Mayweather vs Delahoya wasn't on PPV so there is little if any chance of this being on PPV. At the moment it looks 50-50 to whether it will be on primetime or sky, but we will all know golden boy promotions policy once they have had their meatings with sky and primetime. unless sky change their attitude towards Amir then it is only logical for gbp to offer primetime all their shows from america in exchange for PPV revenue.
If true then Khan has nothing to worry about going forward do he? If he can get just as many PPV's with Primetime as SKY why keep bringing it up?
Sky dont need Amir Khan...nobody likes the kid. Khan needs them if the truth be told. Anyways Judah is going to break his jaw
slight exaggeration? I suspect your knowledge of who and what Showtime are and do is extremely limited No, they really do not.
I think this whole issue just underlines the gross lack of knowledge at GBP in terms of the UK television market. Even the most hardcore boxing fan isn't going to pay for basically a season ticket to watch GBP fighters on any channel, whether it be Primetime or anything else. As mentioned already in this thread, with Setanta we got the lot, comprehensive boxing coverage across the world, a magazine show..... for £12 a month or whatever it was. That's not to mention excellent coverage of other sports too, and they promptly went bust. The best option for Primetime is to continue as they are doing, not competing with Sky and offering a service that people are free to use if they wish. Where GBP are at fault is that they fail to realise that nearly all these events will be going out at 2am, with the main events being nearly 5am. Not exactly buyer friendly, is it? And as for Sky, they've clearly been hurt by the criticism they received over the Haye/Harrison debacle and are determined to put right those wrongs - hopefully that means not offering preferential treatment to anybody (this is contrary to GBP who control HBO) and offering us quality week after week, which thankfully barring the odd exception they seem to be doing these days. If GBP do turn their back on Sky so be it, but all that will do is free up more money for Sky to use as they wish. What they also fail to realise is that hardly anyone knows who any of their fighters are. DLH has retired, Mosley is done, Hopkins isn't compulsive viewing for a casual and the rest are nobodies. It's a hollow ''threat''. They aren't gonna do ****.
I was reading on Twitter the other day that Khan and his army, mainly Saj are running around mouthing that they have canceled Sky and they are getting new offers to be them subscribing as if it a new thing!! shower of mongs.
Setanta didn't go bust because of boxing, it was because of the insane amount of money they paid for second rate football matches. Their boxing package was one of the good things they did. I'd definitely pay £15 a month for something like what setanta used to offer. People here don't realise they're paying 20+ quid for their sky sports subscription, and thats before PPV costs.
Good old boxing....and it will only get worse......I agree with Smoggy those are the only 2 PPV fights out there at the moment...
I can see why Murdoch is so successful, looks like you all have been brain washed into becoming Sky apologists. Good luck to Primetime, the greater the competition the better it's for fans.
