Fights not too far off now. I've seen several posters (UK posters, to be fair) say that Rhodes is much better then his record suggests, he's never lost at 154, so on and so forth. Can anyone explain Rhode's loss to Locket, or his two stoppage loses? Has he just developed into a far better fighter? Rhodes is a massive betting underdog and I'm curious if anyone's backing him. Looking for some intelligent discussion here.
Im on the fence, I havent seen enough of rhodes to make a fair judgement, if others are backing rhodes I might put money on him cause the odds are great.
I got Alvarez by UD, but no doubt Rhodes is better than his record suggests, the fight will be better than expected.

Think I may be pushing towards a Alverez TKO, which isn't worth putting money on cause the odds at bet364 are 8/15
yeah Rhodes lost to Locket who in himself was decent but probably never pushed himself that much Alvarez has been in with some decent fighters but almost all well past there best and hes still had to have massive advantages - hes being well protected wich is always a worry you didn't see Bradleys handlers keeping him away from anyone at 140. Alavarez's youth might explain that tho. The size thing could be key he couldnt stop hatton who he had a massive size advantage over and couldn't punch. Rhodes can punch and hes awkward... good fight either way
all these people betting on an alvarez stoppage have not thought this through. alvarez couldn't stop/hurt hatton or a 40-year-old ndou, both career welterweights. if rhodes comes to fight(a true jr.middle) and is not on the take, he is savvy enough to know how not to get stopped if he knows there is no way he can win the fight. he and his team know that if he puts on a good show as a relatively unknown fighter, there are more paydays down the road as a gatekeeper. keep that in mind when you are thinking of betting on alvarez and the ko. it's about the money. always has been and always will be. over/under is the safest play here as the only way rhodes wins in canelos hometown is by a ko/stoppage.
Rhodes is a moody fighter,by that i mean you never know which version of him will turn up come fight night.He seems to have been around forever,and i remember people predicting big things for him in the early days. I'd have to favour Alvarez by UD or late TKO,but this is Rhodes last chance saloon,and if he comes into the ring motivated,he has the tools and power to do a number on Alvarez. As people have already pointed out,Rhodes is a decent operator,and his record doesn't reflect his ability.
I think the best bet would be Alvarez on points. I can see it being close but I can't see Rhodes getting the nod on the cards. Rhodes is tough, slippery and awkward, so this won't be an easy fight for Canelo and I'd be surprised if there was a stoppage. For the odds, Rhodes UD is worth a punt.
