So how does Haye measure up against these two and in relation to fighting WK ? opinions please, and has WK fought anyone in last 13 fights with the same attributes as SANDERS and BREWSTER ?,I dont recall to be honest but I do know his fights have been on the whole non events in terms of competition levels in recent years. When was WK 's last hard fight ?,SAM PETER 1 2005 ?.

I think the real problem for Wlad was that Sanders is left-handed. Not too many righties get to hit Wlad a whole lot unless he tires out, especially these days with his improved defense.

Doesn't really matter how Haye compares to Sanders...it's a non issue.

Why? Because Wladimir is miles ahead of where he was 17-fights and 7-years ago. He fights nothing like that today.

Hes not as mentally tough as Sanders. Sanders took it too him and sat down on everything he threw at him. Brewster was aggressive but he fought a poor version of Wlad.

brewster and sanders both have way way better chins than Haye. Sanders hits harder and has better accuracy.

Haye is like roy jones on a tranquilizer, has speed but is failing around all over the place and always off balance

This half right: Wlad is a lot better than he was then and would beat that version of Sanders today IMO. For one thing, he doesn't just go straight back when he gets tagged, which made him a very easy target for Sanders.

(The southpaw part of Sanders' style was basically irrelevant, by the way. Wlad usually performs brilliantly against southpaws, because he keeps them from working their right hand with his busy left jab and he has one of the greatest heavyweight straight rights I've seen.)

However, he is still fundamentally similar in many ways to the way he was back in 2003: (1) Wlad looks to outbox punchers with speed and outbox boxers by pressuring them with his superior power; (2) Wlad is still a stand-up, stiff-headed European boxer; (3) you can't fix a weak chin and Wlad still has bad whiskers, though they don't usually matter anymore because Steward has fitted him with a great defence.

(1), (2) and (3) means that Haye still has a good chance in this fight, because he is a fast puncher who throws punches from multiple angles and Wlad is still vulnerable to getting stopped, especially on the three knockdown rule, if he doesn't avoid Haye's punches. My money is still on Wlad, but a Haye win would not surprise me. This is a legacy fight for Wlad and I think it will prove just how far he's come from 2003. It's a legacy fight BECAUSE he will lose it if he doesn't perform at 150% of his normal level, which he hasn't really had to do since 2005.

(The Brewster fight was entirely a problem of pacing, as Wlad threw too many huge shots in too short a period of time. He won't make that mistake against Haye.)

The Wladimir who lost to Sanders and Brewster wasn't even close to being as good as the Wladimir who fights now. All you have to do is look at the second Brewster fight to see that. If you could take the Wladimir of today and have him fight the Sanders who beat him when he was younger he would destroy Sanders.

Wlad took a big left hook against Peter in 2010.

Peter took a lot of punishment in 2005 before he could hit Wlad. Haye is not that kind of boxer.

Wlad will let the big right at the beginning and will KO Haye.

Haye comes nowhere close, Sanders is the quickest and hardest punching heavyweight ever, he must be because Wlad the great lost to him in shockingly embarassing fashion. As for brewster, he had amazing power and a granite chin but we all know Wlad got drugged in that fight.

    Long live King Wladdy

Haye is as fast, and has more explosive speed than Sanders

    HOWEVER

Sanders had a good chin, and was willing to walk through Wlads punches in order for the chance to give one

    Haye can't do that

But as someone said Wlad now > Wlad then

    By a long, long distance

    Look at the Chagaev fight

They don't compare well at all, Sanders was a true heavvyweight, 6'4" 235lb compared to Haye 6'3" 210lb. Also he was a southpaw, and Haye's chin is clearly no better than Sanders. Brewster took shots from Wladimir that would kill David Haye..

Sanders was always known to have a relatively average chin. The fact is that Sanders didn't take a single punch vs. Wlad. He ambushed him, set him up and then steam rolled him.

I guess Sander's southpaw stance helped, together with Wlad's youthful inexperience of trying to retaliate immediately instead of trying to tire Sanders out from the outside while tying him up on the inside.

Having said that Sanders fights nowhere close to Haye or vice versa. Haye likes to stand in the distance, usually with a low stance trying to step forward and counter his opponent. Watch Haye's fights closely. He doesn't like trading punches (for good reason). He likes to throw and then get away.

Sanders loved trading toe-to-toe while trying to outgun his opponents in the early rounds (until he usually ran out of gas). Sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't.
