    at this point who wins...

    Pacquiao vs. Mayweather?

At this point Pacquiao's name deserves to be first in my opinion. Has Pac become the betting favorite as well?

They've had a few common opponents. Let's look at those fights-

    Juan Manuel Marquez:

*Pacquiao- D12 2004, W12 2008, and will be fighting him again this year (2011). Pac knocked him down 4 times in 2 fights. Both fights were very competitive despite the knockdowns.

*Mayweather- W12 2009. No knockdowns but a clear win for Mayweather.

    DeLaHoya:

    *Pacquiao- KO8 2008.

    *Mayweather- W12 2007. Split-Decision.

    Ricky Hatton:

    *Pacquiao- KO2 2009.

    *Mayweather- KO10 2007.

    Shane Mosley:

*Pacquiao- W12 2011. Pac dropped Mosley and dominated him.

*Mayweather- W12 2010. Mayweather dominated Mosley but was in serious trouble in round 3.

    Tale of the tape:

    *Pacquaio- 5'6" with a 67" reach, WW.

    *Mayweather- 5'8" with a 72" reach.

    Other recent opponents:

    *Pacquiao- Margarito W12, Clottey W12, Cotto KO12

*Mayweather- He hasn't faced an opponent who Pacquiao hasn't faced as well since 2006 (W12 Baldomir).

I am with you in this one... Pacman by a slight margin

IMO Manny's victories over common opponents are more conclusive than Flyod's ones, and my impression is that Mayweather is not aging as well as expected; he is still a great fighter, but it seems to me that he is not as fast and slick as he was in his peak days.

But styles make fights, Pacquiao is a flurrying aggressive kind of guy with notably more firepower than Mayweather.

Floyd likes to pick them apart, bit by bit, very slowly.

As for the thread, we'll have to wait and see how Pacquiao will do against Juan Manuel Marquez and how Floyd will do against Victor Ortiz. At lightweight though, I'm fairly confident that Floyd would beat the **** out of Pacquiao.

At the moment, I just don't know. Floyd could be suffering from ring rust and perhaps the Ortiz fight is just a tune - up for Pacquiao?

We'll just have to wait and see.

Bad style matchup for Manny. I think Floyd beats him handily.

Mayweather still, he'll be 35 but he is all wrong for Manny, the ring rust and age could become a factor though, there are question marks if hes as dedicated as he was too. I don't think it's a given both get through their next fights with wins

Pacquiao,by a slim decision. His workrate would make the difference.

If this fight had happened in 2010 as expected then I would have leaned heavily towards Mayweather but the more time that passes the more and more I think Pacquiao has a much better chance. I don't give Pacquiao the edge yet because of his uninspiring performance against Mosley but I tend to think that if they meet, they will bring out the best in each other.

At any point in either career i pick Floyd. Even with 2 year and one year layoffs Floyd cn beat Manny , he is a very special fighter.

Mayweather is probably aging faster than Pacquaio and is ofcourse older BUT age should hit Pacquaio harder than Mayweather

The idea that Mayweather is aging faster than Pacquiao is a bit silly imo.

Mayweather has less fights than Pacman, and more than that he takes CONSIDERABLY less punishment in his fights than Pac. Mayweather hasn't really been in many wars and been hurt, Pac has. Even in fighting Margarito Pacquiao took tremendous punishment.

I like Mayweather here....stylewise I honestly think Pacquiao plays into his hands... Counterpunching and the cleaner shots, basically Marquez 2.0. Think Toney-Jirov (minus the KD). The Ortiz fight should tell us a lot.

Not really less fights = less training, cardiovascual shrinkage (I made that up and I like it), less sharpness, you lose your toughness, the punches hurt more. The older you get the harder you have to train to keep what you had, not training and ageing is a bad recipe. That's why i give a young bull like Ortiz a chance against Floyd

Pac also hasn't been in a war since JMM 2, he's hardly taken any punishment since then
