Yeah just watching round 2...he's already laying the trap. It's so blatant what he's looking to do. He lands a lead right down the pipe in exact same place as the KD. Ricky is lunging in with sporadic success. Floyd knew the first few rounds would be a rough ride. He may be cocky but he's not stupid..he knew what he had to do to win that night.
Crooked Cortez was accidently helping Hatton. Mayweather was schooling Hatton more on the inside than the outside!
What's most frustrating is that Billy Graham said repeatedly before the fight that Mayweather is exceptional on the inside, both in terms of defence and getting his own shots off. His corner advice was pretty sound too, work at mid range as often as you can. There were times during the fight that he had success, but he was too eager to rough Mayweather up and to try and ''shove it up him'', instead all he did was give Floyd the opportunity to do the same. He just wasn't cunning enough in his defensive work to get away with those kind of tactics, and as PP said his jab simply wasn't good enough. To beat a man like Floyd you've got to establish your jab and use both your hands. That said, I don't have any reason to criticise Hatton for being stopped. I've got a lot more respect for someone that chases a late/last gasp/lucky (delete as you wish) KO than a man who gets on the bike to hear the final bell. Alright, it was a long shot from the 6th onward, but he gave it his all, and that's all you can ask.
I remember Cortez hardly allowing any inside work in the 1st three rounds, which didn't help Hatton, as that was when he was giving Mayweather the most trouble. Once 3 rounds had passed, the sting had been taken out of Ricky's work and Cortez allowed more on the inside, just when Mayweather was starting to get the better of Ricky on the inside (as well as at range). It didn't affect the outcome of the fight, but Cortez knew exactly what he was doing...
as much as id like to say hatton was beating him,i honestly thought he would at the time, after the 1st i thought he would, then as the fight went on,i was clutching at straws:| he did ok,dident get a beating of mayweather like some have, but still got beat good:deal
Hatton was outclassed and anyone who says different is a ****in moron. And the ref had **** all to do with him losing. It wasnt Cortez that punched his head in.
going by memory i had hatton 1 point down after 6 rounds and that was from the poinst deduction. it was hattons bullying tactics that kept him in the fight to this point although mayweather was landing the much cleaner blows. from 7 till 10 mayweather was clearly the better man and gave hatton a boxing lesson. hatton is a fav of mine but here is no denying that mayweather adjusted after 6 rounds and took the fight away from ricky
Hatton got destroyed by Mayweather. The first 6 rounds can be looked at as competitive, in the fact that Hatton hadn't hit his head on the turnbuckle yet.
Hattons style meant the early rounds were probably going to be at least competitive but the class showed as the fight went on.
bla bla this bla bla that, floyd may well of struggled with aggresion and work rate...............BUT what happened???....worked ricky out and took the **** out of him.... dont get me wrong im a huge hitman fan but appart from the 1st round where floyd was off balance and ricky caught him, that was the only point in the 10 rounds where ricky had a moment.....and it was floyd off balance that brougt that moment...... whoever floyd is in with he might well take 12 rounds but he will work them out and make them look silly. thats just the way he rolls.
She was a beauty mate :good Im transfixed when im going through the channels and a Blondie video comes on
the referee definately didnt help hatton, but even with another ref letting him work inside more i still think mayweather would of found a way to beat him easy
It wouldn't matter who was reffing to be honest. He's there to enforce the rules. Sure, he was slightly over involved, but you've got to play the referee too, and figure out what he will and won't let you get away with.
