Correct me if I'm wrong, and maybe I'm speaking from a totally ignorant viewpoint, but this strikes me as yet another poor fight for Pong. I'll be honest, I've not seen an awful lot of Kogawa, but from what I've read about him he's not too impressive. I know his recent fights against horrendous opponents haven't been title defences, but, for me anyways, Pong's wasting more and more time now that he's getting even older.

I wouldn't have Wonjongkam in my top 10 pound for pound as many people seem to off the back of his win over Kameda. I think it's more of a lifetime acheivement award more so than anything else, as the majority of his best work was a few years before. In my opinion, he's not at his absolute best anymore, but he's still a fine fighter, and he's just wasting time with a lot of meaningless fights as opposed to fighting the likes of Mthalane, Marquez and Miranda(again). These are all fights I'd favour him to win, and they're certainly more legacy enhancing than Kogawa.

Is it just me who thinks this? I mean, I do think fighting with regularity is a positive thing, but there's a certain point where you have to actually do something in amongst them. Again though, maybe I'm just clueless on the situation, and Takuya's better than I give him credit for, but for my money this'll be the Pong man's sixth disappointing adversary in succession. At the end of the day, he's a 33 year old Flyweight with over 80 fights, time isn't exactly on his side.

    Thoughts? :think

I think it's more a case of 'I can't get decent enough opponent, I better keep busy'.

I don't think there's any question of anyone he's 'ducking' is there? No one gives a **** about boxing in Thailand, they love Muay Thai much more, no one cares who he fights. Wonjongkam needs to get out of there and back to Japan or even try and find a fight in the U.S (very unlikely), but, at his age, with the opponent he has fought....can he really be arsed anymore?!?

Trust, if Segura goes over to Thailand to face him, I will be in the front row with a f'n crew of chicks

Of course I wouldn't accuse him of ducking anybody, but he hasn't looked too fussed about trying to secure the more lucrative fights. He just seems content at the moment with how his career is stalling. As far as I know, since he won his title last year, Miranda has said he'd be more than up for a rematch, would anyone complain about seeing that? I certainly wouldn't. I can't imagine it would be too difficult to get the Filipino lads over either, the likes of Fuentas and Melindo I think are probabilities if he wanted them.

I know the arguement can be made that the champion shouldn't have to seek out opponents, but if he isn't getting any decent one's, I think you'd have to take matters into your own hands.

From the outside looking in i must say it's a joke by looks.

The guys riding off the back of the Kameda win and looks to be doing a 'Ricky Burns' but on a next level . I can't slag this fight off cos i ain't seen Kogawa but it doesn't seem to be a world championship level test but what is nowadays..

That's pretty much how I see it too. As I say, I'd welcome somebody who's more educated on Kogawa to tell me I'm a blithering idiot but as far as I can see, while it's obviously a couple of steps up from the likes of the 1-3, 0-2 guys he was facing, it's still far below the standard a man at his level should be fighting at.

He should fight Sosa already. He's the top contender for the title but it seems like neither of them want to fight each other, they just keep taking easy fights.

Nah, it isn't, but having already had many fights against top class opposition when he was first champ, I reckon he's had enough.

Why isn't Segura going to Thailand???!?!? He should just maurade through there, taking women and heads, then turn up at some royal garden and challenge Wonjongkam to a battle.

In all seriousness, good fight. Could Pongsaklek conjure up one last quality performance, or would Segura break the veteran and walk through him?!? Surprised no ones mentioned it as a possible fight, Segura has already moved up I've been told.

I downloaded that Canchila - Casimero fight you posted the final round of. It's a really good fight. You wouldn't have thought Canchila would have beaten Segura based on that performance.

What, does he look **** then? I've only seen the last bit, never got hold of the full fight (competitive? how does he look? and the opponent? :good) remember reading about it at the time and thinking 'NOOOOOoooooooo' :D

I remember watching Segura-Canchila 1 live (undercard of Cotto-Margarito maybe??? Summat like that) and I remember the early kd and thinking 'they're building this kid up, the Colombians built up and this fight is basically over' but Cesar impressed me more and more as the fight went on and Segura gassed. He showed some nice technical flourishes, and was fairly stylish and astute.

All fell apart, I assume because he doesn't have a good chin, still, gave his all in the rematch with Segura and the stoppage was stupid IMO.

Ruined now I guess, or is he still fighting? :-( I'd love for him to 'Do a Pedrosa' and reinvent himself somehow, using the losses to help him rather than falling to mush.
