I don't see how this question is even conceivable. Starting at UFC 50 with his first title shot against Hughes in 2004, I wanna say, but I could be off by a year. Matt Hughes beat him by arm bar because he overcomitted to a kimura attempt, which was a bit foolish but I think he was only a blue belt at the time. Let's list the fighters he's dispatched handily since then (I'll include the loss to Matt Serra at UFC 69 just as a matter of completeness) Jason Miller - UFC 52 Beat up for 3 rounds Frank Trigg - UFC 54 (Also noting that at the time Trigg was the #2 Welterweight in the world Submitted Sean Sherk - UFC 56 Sherk was on a huge winning streak and was one of the top prospects in the welterweight division Beaten to a bloody mess and a broken nose B.J. Penn - UFC 58 - "Controversial" is probably the dumbest way to describe this fight. An eye poke and a uppercut that caught the end of Georges' nose. Even with that damage, GSP took down the famous B.J. and worked him over for the remaining two rounds. Matt Hughes - UFC 65 - Against the then greatest welterweight in the sports short history, he throughly dominated Hughes stopping his takedowns (even after Hughes had a full body lock) and knocking him silly with a left kick to the head and elbows to the jaw. Matt Serra - UFC 69 - People will say that Serra's win here was a fluke. They're horribly mistaken. Watch the fight again. Serra handled that fight perfectly. Josh Koscheck - UFC 74 Stopped all but one of the 2x Div. 1 NCAA Wrestling Champions takedown attempts and even put him down and almost submitting him by Kimura and even dropping for a heel hook/foot lock at the end of the third. Matt Hughes - UFC 79 - Pure poetry. Georges beat the Hall of Famer easily like Ali beating on an amateur boxer. Dominated position, takedowns, strikes and, with delicious irony, finished off that cocky ***** with an arm bar. Matt Serra - UFC 83 - Dominated Serra from the opening bell beating him senseless on the feet and on the ground ending the fight with knees to the body. Jon Fitch - UFC 87 - An Amazing fight which saw Georges handle the best fighter the Welterweight division has ever seen (aside from GSP himself) en route to a UD victory, the only loss Fitch has sustained to this day in his UFC career. B.J. Penn - UFC 94 - Destroyed B.J. Penn for the four rounds that he was able to survive. Showed dominant top control, passing his guard with ease and taking the fight to Penn on the feet. Thiago Alves - UFC 100 - The man to knock out GSP? Naw, you're going down even though Josh Koscheck couldn't get you down and GSP will even drop you with his own strikes. Hell, he even the last two rounds with a ligament tear in his leg! (Or his groin. Still curious to see how you hit someone with your groin... no weird porn links please) Dan Hardy - UFC 114 - Kind of a meh match up because Hardy was on a win streak and GSP realistically had no contenders as he dispatched of them all. He won handily but foolishly followed the advice of (Can't remember his first name but lost to Hughes in Abu Dhabi) Gracie and didn't utilize strikes from the guard/top position because he was told, "Only think about control". Josh Koscheck - UFC 124 - Broke Josh Koscheck's orbital bone with a single punch in the first round. Was taken down once and was able to prevent all of his other takedown attempts while taking him down repeatedly. Jake Shields - UFC 129 - Beat the guy when he couldn't see out of one eye. Not the most impressive victory of his career but not too many other people can say they've beat Jake Shields. So, quick recap, let's review who GSP has beat since his title defeat at UFC 50: Jason Miller Frank Trigg Sean Sherk B.J. Penn x2 Matt Hughes x2 Josh Koscheck x2 Matt Serra Jon Fitch Thiago Alves Dan Hardy Jake Shields Yeah, I think GSP has done an okay job at cleaning out the division.
GSP has not avoided a single fighter at 170. In fact, some of them have lost their luster but when GSP fought them, they were hot **** i.e. Alves. GSP has moved to ****ing up fighters from other orgs now The only issue with GSP has been his reluctance to step up in weight.
UFC champs mostly cannot duck opponents because it is not like Boxing but to answer the question, No GSP hasn't ducked anyone.
Most definitely not. GSP has cleaned out the division completely, creating one of the best MMA resumes ever in the process IMO.
I'd leave Dan Hardy out if I was bigging up GSP's resume though. It was a fair enough fight, but it's nothing to shout about. He doesn't belong with the other names there. If I talk about the strength of Anderson's resume, I don't mention Travis Lutter, and if I talk about the strength of Rampage's resume, I don't mention Matt Hamill, etc. Same goes.
Where've you been? Good to see you're still around. Maybe I was the one missing. Oh, well...Anway...Hi What's up
