As Joe's retired,I think that this thread is appropriate for the classic forum. Who would've won ?

Calzaghe I reckon, too quick/busy for Froch.

Saying that, Froch does always find a way to win....if he beats Ward I might have to think about this harder.

He does have some good boxing skills as well, a nice jab when he uses it properly but I just think Joe would be too busy and expose Froch's low hands.

Calzaghe is too gifted in physical attributes and he's also smarter. He his reviled, largely, but I think he's quite a handful for most fighters weighing in at 168 and will usually win. I reckon he'd have beaten Ottke if they fought and he may have even troubled Wimpy Halstead...briefly.

A one sided decision for Calzaghe. He would have been waaaay too fasthanded and smart for Froch..who is a really limited fighter..an overrated fighter. Calzaghe shouldn't have retired without meeting Froch. He would have beaten him easily.

Froch is a bit underrated and Calzaghe overrated. However, Joe has a huge style advantage here. Froch´s low hands and Calzaghe´s workrate would mean that Joe would simply outwork him. Joe´s speed and angles would allow him to land a lot of punches while Froch may land the occasional hard punch but Calzaghe´s the chin to take those. Not enough. 9-3 for Joe C.

Calzaghe, 8-4 type UD he'd easily land on Froch's open defense

He doesn't though, see Kessler, Dirrell and Johnson wasn't far off. If Froch beats Ward I think it says more about Ward than Froch tbh

    Calzaghe UD

    9-3

Too, fast, accurate & busy for Froch.

I think anyone picking Froch is only doing so out of hope rather than likeliness.

Definitely Joe Calzaghe. It would be a one sided bout.

Joe seems to be overrated by a few die hards that frequent our forum, but this match-up seems to do him a disservice...no offense meant to Froch. At this point in time Calzaghe has to be a consensus favorite in this match and would overwhel froch. However should froch be able to beat Ward and Bute, he may show that he is more diverse and capable against a variety of styles. I don't excpect Froch to unify against Bute let alone beat Ward, but if he can I might have to reevealute this.

At this point in time I would lean towards joe strongly 9-3 type decision, should Froch evolve as a fighter against higher caliber opposition and a variety of styles he may be able to close that gap...I just don't see it happening!

JC has a HUGE style edge here. Not 4 fights ago, a prospect barely above novice level bothered the hell out of Froch(Beat him, arguably) with speed and footwork. When a guy either comes to him or can be hit by him, Froch does well, but he has struggled to some degree with every speedster with good footwork he's fought.

Joe has speed in abundance, has the southpaw style, and if you watch him from the knee's down in the Lacy and Kessler fights, he's got the footwork to never be touched by the Cobra. He's not gonna **** the bed and go negative like Dirrell did, either-Too strong mentally, too experienced.

JC by whitewash. I'd be a bit suprised if Froch won more than 2 rounds.
