Good post, especially the part I've highlighted.

Good on matchroom. This fight is shocking in terms of match making and in terms of negotiation.

Good on Barker. Looking to test himself.

I'd give full credit to Barker for taking the fight. I'm not sure if I'd buy into the whole ''he should wait'' angle, if you don't fight the best, you won't know if you can beat the best. He's 29(?) years old and probably realises he won't get a better opportunity than this.

That said, I can't for the life of me see him winning. He threw some wild left uppercuts against Spada, unless he's eradicated that completely come fight time, I can see Sergio probably ending it with a left hand a la P-Dub, although presumably in less spectacular fashion.

Fair play to Barker but he is going to be decimated.

    Exactly what I was wondering.

If they could get another headliner it might not be a bad idea to give barker a low risk 8 rounder to shed a bit more rust.

Yeah, I don't think a quick 8 rounder would do any harm.

Someone like Jean Paul Mendy would have been alright if he wasn't fighting Bute.

It's not going to happen but if they could get him on the Haye, prob at smw, card it could promote him in the states a little first and still allow 3 months before he fights Martinez.

Should be good from a British point of view, but seriously Martinez should be fighting the elite of the middlewights and Supper middle weights whilst he's only got a few years at the top of his game.
