On Sunday, promoter Gary Shaw publicly blasted his fighter Timothy Bradley over Bradley's unwillingness to fight Amir Khan and unify the junior welterweight titles. Bradley and Shaw are in a contractual battle as it appears Bradley will wait out his contract and become a free agent when it expires on June 30th. This battle could lead to litigation between the two. According to a Sunday report by Fighthype.com, Shaw made the following comments about Bradley: "Any time you offer someone $1.4 million versus an 80-20 split, which would bring him over $2 million and 50% of all the pay-per-view in England, when somebody turns it down, I can't explain it. I assume we'll be in litigation he and I". It appears that Bradley was offered a very lucrative pay day to fight Khan, but Bradley's desires to leave Gary Shaw's promotion seems to be greater. Bradley recently implied that Shaw was not properly promoting him and wanted to be promoted like a champion. To Shaw's bewilderment, Bradley chose to reject the Khan fight for a shot at free agency. However, there's one promoter who's chomping at the bit for Bradley to hit free agency and that is Bob Arum. Arum recently expressed his desires to sign Bradley should Timothy become a free agent. Boxing pundits are unison when they say that Arum can see the $ signs with Bradley vs. Manny Pacquiao. This content is protected
Recently I watched Fight Camp 360 (about 7 episodes) and Shaw seems to be really rude - gets pissed off quickly and swears to the other presenters etc. But yeah, I'd be pissed off in this situation, if I were losing one of my best fighters.
He's a real piece of ****. Have a read of this: http://www.boxi This content is protected ene.com/forums/showthread.php?t=121266
Bradley wants to leave Shaw, this article is on the level of one of Frank's over one of his former fighters.
I think it was a bad move for bradley to turn down the khan, it was a good deal. but he won'ted out and that what he won'ted, Shaw did a good job with Bradley. got him on Showtime and HBO in the last 3 years and got him some good pay days.
has bradley not got a $1m plus deal with HBO for his next fight??? (like alexander) , he should have fought khan but maybe to add to leaving shaw bradley is looking for an easier fight for the $1m plus THEN he will go after khan etc
I like how Shaw tries to justify a 20% split of what would be around $1.8m for having absolutely **** all to do with the promotion. No wonder he's pissed - his fighter has actually read what's been presented to him and told fatty to go **** himself. It's frustrating that this fight isn't happening immediately, but Bradley is simply looking after his own interests it seems. Shaw really ought to keep his trap shut. Does anyone wonder whether this is why Dirrell is seemingly in no hurry to get back in there?
as mentioned i think shaw looked like a arsehole in one of the earlier 360 programmes , he went in a huff because he couldnt get his own way and threatened to leave a meeting
