How much money will he make on that? And wasn't the idea just before, that he could fight Bute? He can't if Kessler does it. And he won't get as much, if he fights Bute. The tv-right are less worth, when the fight is in the middle of the night in Germany and not primetime. So less money for him and stieglitz.

If WBO decides to let Kessler fight for an interim-title (which is very likely) the split will suddenly be 50-50. In Germany 60-40 for Kessler and 60-40 for Stieglitz in Denmark. So it would cost Stiegllitz/Steinforth a lot of money to fake an injury.

Stieglitz never wanted to fight Bute or Kessler , why do you think he refused 2 good offers from Bute and one from Kessler. The Dane's camp had to force him be becoming mandatory. He just wanted to be left alone with his WBO belt. So if Kessler and Bute fights each other and then go for the s6 winner he will get his wish.

Perhaps I'm reading mustatas post wrong. i have understood it as Stieglitz would rather fight Bute than Kessler.

Yes, Stieglitz don't want to fight Kessler. But if he fakes a longerlasting injury long before, WBO will let Kessler fight for the interim title. If he fakes an injury on short notice WBO will do the same. And Sauerland will have a replacement fighter ready on the undercard. They do that often, if they suspect the opponent will fake an injury.

So he will only harm his own economic interests, if he fakes an injury. Bute-kessler can't be made on a short notice. Sauerland doesn't want it. So it will be unlikely, that Stieglitz will fake an injury.

If Kessler fights Stieglitz, it is like turning back time 3-4 years - why would you like to do that..........................:huh

Kessler's shown this kind of behavior before. He was supposed to come to the US and fight Edison Miranda (this is when Miranda first moved up to SMW and I think before the Abraham rematch). Instead Kessler backed out of the fight and fought Dimitri Sartison for the vacant WBA title. Personally I think Mikkel just wants a title and little redemption before going to the negotiation table with Bute or the winner of Froch/Ward.

In the meantime I would rather see Bute vs Dirrell. That would be a bigger fight in both the US and Canada than vs Kessler - who was embarrassed by Ward (regardless of the headbutts, elbows, and clinches). If he has trouble getting Andre, he could threaten to take Anthony.

Some of the points about Stieglitz that have been made are very valid. He wanted to be left alone with his WBO strap. Now that Kessler is the mandatory he will have to face him or vacate the title. Surely it's better Kessler has the WBO belt than Stieglitz. Maybe then we can see the best facing each other and eventually a unified champion. Getting Stieglitz out of the equation makes sense!

Stieglitz was out of the equation before he won that title, by being KO'ed by 2 guys that are on Bute's 'weak resume' ;)

He will want to make the more possible cash, and make this go to purse bid. That takes time to do and only then, the fight can be organized. Don't expect Kessler to fight soon if he goes the Stieglitz way.

Unless Stieglitz thinks he can beat the today version of Kessler...

Andre Dirrell is blackballed by Showtime. Unless they change their minds, Bute could not fight him.
