Just watched this fight after seeing the press conference. Even though I feel that Bellew would have gone on to win the fight I think McKenzie deserves the rematch because that is a poor stoppage. No punches landed when the ref jumped in WTF? :patsch

I'm convinced a few people must have vision impairments because if you watch that carefully Bellew nailed him with a right hand as he ran in. McKenzie has some excuse since he probably lost some grey matter that night.

Nevertheless, was premature. McKenzie was NOT recovering from that by any means though. He was out on his arse, spent. Bellew was dominating the fight and would have stopped him a few seconds later for certain.

    Yeah it was early.

That said, the ref did Ovil a favour and robbed Bellew of a clear ko win.

The main reason there is a rematch is because of the refs ineptitude.

personally thought the ref stopped it too quick.

    Yes, it was shocking.

The only justification for the rematch is that Tony looked gone from where I was sat in the arena after the 2nd KD..... yet as soon as Ovil went down and was caught again the ref dived in.

Upon replay it's not quite as bad, but still a ''British'' stoppage.

Assuming Tony chills out and boxes to his plan he'll bang Ovil out inside six.

If the Cleverly fight can't be made I'd like him to put a stone on and fight as a cruiser. He's got the frame, and his power will carry up relatively easily. I suppose because the division isn't particularly glamorous he might be reluctant to do so.

In that case fight HW's. It's not as if many of them can actually box, is it?!?

He landed 1 when he ran in, the ref didn't step in, missed with a few, the ref jumped in. Bonkers.

**** like this and the recent Dallas- Page fight shows why Britian has gone above even Germany in the bull**** officiating charts.

I said yes! I'm honest enough but I will say this, I was the one robbed that night! Just show me once in my whole career where I've dropped someone like that and let them off the hook, I know how to finish.. I was robbed of a brutal KO win that night.. It'll be allowed to happen come July though ;-)

    Thanks too guys ;-)

the ref would probably have got less stick if he had stopped after the first kd instead of letting ovil up and then take that last shot (which wanst massively powerful by the looks of it) twas a strange decision to call it off then. maybe ovils arms by his sides were a worry but he fought like that most of the fight

looking forward to the rematch tho

Very honest of you Tony, i was pissed off with the stoppage, cos i think Mckenzie deserved a chance and also cos i expected you to go on and catch him again. Its the way in which the ref ended it that was pathetic.

    Good stoppage imo

Bellew had won every round after the 1st 2 & that left hook he dropped Ovil with was a beauty

Had the fight gone on another 5 sec Ovil could have been seriously injured, the result wasnt in doubt by that point

6 people thought the stoppage was justified? You should not be boxing fans. These kind of stoppages are ruining boxing.

:fire No, no, no & no

Its the refs call, Ovil was unresponsive & unable to defend himself

Perhaps a "real" boxing fan like yourself would like to see more fights ending like this...
