No, Haye will not fight southpaw. No, Vitali will not take Wlad's place on July 2. No, Wlad did not duck Chisora. No, Haye will not come out all guns blazing against Wlad. atsch
Just one of them things in life mate. Its like asking why is sergio martinez so hot? can't be answered.
Why would Haye not try to stop Wlad early. It's his only possible chance at victory. Haye can't beat Wlad like he did Valuev. He can't fight scared and earn a decision. He was only able to pull that off vs Sugar Nicky because Valuev is slow and plodding at times. That fed right into Hayes strategy of potshotting and picking spots to jump in and out. Look at all Hayes fights at HW. He fights differently vs each opponent. It would be a horrible move for Haye to try to employ the Valuev strategy vs Wlad.
Of the four scenarios I posted above, I agree the last one is the most plausible. I think Haye can't beat Wlad like he did Valuev, but I think haye and Booth think they can beat him this way, and they also think if it turns into a scrappy affair they can KO Wlad, but I can't see him coming out all guns blazing early on.
All posters on ESB thinks that all other posters are idiots. We are all idiots then, unfortunately :blood Haye is a finisher. Thats how he box. He rarely outworks his opponents. Haye trying to drown Wlad in powerfull hooks early is far from impossible.
Seeing that is his ONLY shot at a W, I can't see it happening any other way. withoutawire seems to think that Haye/Booth view Wlad as a smaller version of Valuev or a bigger version of Harrison. That Haye will most likely try to fight from waaaaaaayyyyy outside, jumping in and out, and earning rounds. I respect woaw's take to the fullest since it is well grounded, but these guys are pros and have watched more Klitschko footage than ANY of us probably, and they will fight Wlad they ONLY way he can be beat.
Haye will not come out all guns blazing at all, seeing people write this makes me cringe. When are you most likely to get knocked out - when you're boxing sensibly to a game plan and concentrating, or when you're going all guns blazing and recklessly seeking a ko? Exactly. I've said it in other threads - I think in the opening rounds Haye will not be too concerned with landing big shots. His job will be to try and take Wlad's jab away - use feet and, if necessary, head movement to make him miss or fall short with his jab. Then use a lot of feints to keep Wlad cautious and wary of being hit, and to avoid becoming predictable. The theory is that Wlad's whole game is based around that jab. He uses that jab to keep you at the distance where he can land but you can't, not just that but he only throws his right hand after a lot of testing the water with his jab. It's his 'safety blanket', if you will. Haye's job will be to negate the jab and take Wlad out of his comfort zone. I think they want to see what happens when Wlad can't land that jab. Does he adjust and throw caution to the wind by throwing right hand leads and hooks? Or does he go in to a bit of a shell and drop his punch output? If you're Haye I know which one you're hoping for. I genuinely believe that from the outset they'll want to 'neuter' Wlad by making him wary of throwing his most important punch. If he's not jabbing then he's not throwing his right hand, and if he's not throwing that then there's far less of a deterrent to stop you getting closer and getting your shots off. This obviously makes for a bit of a stinker in the early stages of the fight, but I think it's the most realistic (and possible only) way for Haye to win the fight. Let's face it - he's not going to outbox Wlad, and just going hell for leather from the opening bell will get you knocked out - Wlad will be prepared for that. However, Wlad has all the advantages in this fight - the great fundamentals, the power, the size, the strength etc. His usual style should easily be enough to see him win this fight. Haye, on the other hand, will not just have to fight the perfect fight to his game plan, he'll have to hope that Wlad reacts that right way when that gameplan is implemented. That's why I have Wlad as the heavy favourite going in to this fight, but unlike others I'm not writing Haye off as a no hoper here, as this is HW boxing - anyone can KO anyone.
Both guys have vulnerable chins. Wlad is vulnerable on the inside and Haye is vulnerable springing in for the outside to land a shot. I'm hoping for a good scrap. Maybe a Liakhovich-Brewster style war but with more knockdowns :hey
