    Fair enough.

But still, the worry on Joe's face after that final bell, was there to see. I've watched the fight 3 times since, and in all of them I scored for B-Hop. I even found myself looking for rounds to give to Joe, so that it could reflect the fuss that Calzaghe fans kick up.

But that's just me though. I won't argue with anyone who had it closely for Joe. But those who say Calzaghe dominated him, seriously need a slap on the face.

When they say Joe Coke Head Calzaghe is an arm puncher, what they mean is all of his patty cake slaps on the arm have to be counted as landed shots.

I'll agree with that. In my opinion a domination is a fight where one fighter only loses one or two rounds at the most. It certainly wasn't that clear. Personaly though I think Calzaghe won clearly enough but it was close and scrappy. Calzaghe is the only south paw to do it at the end of the day.

I also think that despite what people say on here Hopkins was a lot closer to his prime than Calzaghe in that fight. If you read Calzaghe's autobiography there is a really good quote from former Showtime programe organiser Jay Larkin where he basically completely blames Hopkins for the fight not happening in 2002.

Do you beleive the punch stats for any other fight? if so, what's the difference here, it didn't go your fighters way? Calzaghes' punching technique has always been a bit unusual, and became more slappy as the hand injuries mounted. If you're going to disregard slappy punches landed we might as well not have the fight, just award it to Hopkins beforehand for having better technique. Fact is he won by 5 points on one card, 3 on another and it only a loss on one card (Adelaide Byrd) because of the knockdown. I thought it was a pretty clear win. People are entitled to their opinions but I can't help but think alot more people are saying Hopkins won now than were at the time, and are doing so because he's kept winning since and they're looking for reasons to pick apart the Calzaghe loss.

  12. Calzaghes wee da was well known for being a dramatic mentalist in the corner. Provided brilliant entertainment and ensured his son didn't get sloppy!

Of course he didn't land anything like that amount.

I wish people would learn that Compubox is two fat guys in suits sitting at ringside clicking PlayStation joypads every time it looks to them like a punch has landed.

It isn't scientific, infallible, nor even particularly accurate or valuable. It's merely a gimmick they use for TV.

When Calzaghe flurries at speed, the fatties go click-click-click-click. But in reality, two punches hit elbows and two hit thin air. This is how Compubox works with people who throw lots of quick pitty-patter flurries.

There are many other reasons why Compubox is a meaningless gimmick, for instance every bodyshot is considered a "power shot", and it of course has no way of differentiating between who landed the more effective, more significant, more decisive punches in a round, all it can show is numbers.

I'm a big Hopkins fan, but I agree that he's always been an awkward ******* when it came to making fights back in the day. If he was that concerned about coming to the UK to fight, he shouldn't have said yes to Joe in the first place.

But I strongly disagree that he was close to his prime. Hopkins in his peak years was renowned for being one of the few fighters who could fight an old-school fight at 15 rounds hard. But by the time he was 43 and has crossed paths with Calzaghe, he had lost two fights with Taylor and had slowed down considerably. He no longer was a fighter that could keep up a high pace for 12 rounds. Skill-wise, yes he was all there, and he made Joe look like a fool on occasions. But when it came to physical endurance, he couldn't match Joe for ****.

Which is why since then, he's been feasting on carefully picked people. The Pavlik and Pascal wins are great, but there's no denying the little fact that their's was a style that wouldn't be able to take advantage of Hopkins' old legs.
