Pacquiao has never weighed even close to the Jr middle limit, let alone what a jr middle would rehydrate too. 148 i think has been his max, which is closer to what some lightweights and junior welterweights weigh. Martinez weighed 173 I think in his last fight, a lot closer to what super middles weigh than Pac does compared to any jr middle. Pac never was a jr middle, it was an opportunist title, as many of the greats of the past have aswell (Jones @HW, Leonard @SMW/LHW, Whitaker @JMW, Hatton @WW, Mayweather @JMW, etc..). Don't know why people can't see this and accept it, and move on. Going down to 154 for Martinez would make it more plausible to call these guys out. It looks bad for him to be at 160, refusing to fight the top contenders while calling out smaller guys, that shows he doesn't care about titles anymore, so what does holding onto his lineal and ring 160 titles matter? nevermind it would also take the heat off of him to fight the best super middles. Barker is a nothing fight, he'll gain nothing from it, it won't take him closer to a big fight at 154 or give him any more credibility at 160, it's pointless. Might aswell have fought Dzinizruk for his 154 title in his last fight and another decent fight down there instead of Barker. A 154 title would be tempting for a unification with Alvarez or Cotto. His 160 titles aren't all that attractive to the guys he wants to fight when they are clearly too small for that weight. Guy needs to make a decision on which top fighters he wants, he needs to go down and chase the smaller guys, and not just float around doing nothing and hope something comes to him like he's doing now with the Barker fight

When it comes to PAC and May, he talks about want to knock them out. PAC fight bigger guys than Martinez but you don't see PAC calling out smaller fighters.
There are multiple problems with this post. Martinez weighed 170 in his last fight, not 173. It was the most he's ever weighed on fight night. Two, I don't believe that sanctioning bodies distinguish between "real" titles and "opportunist" titles. I'm well-aware that Pacquiao probably will never fight at 154. I already said Pacquiao didn't have any obligation to fight Martinez. However, the fact that people expressed interest in such a fight should not come as a surprise to you at all, and if it's really so offensive to you or Pacquiao's team, then maybe they should not have paid the sanctioning fee for an opportunist title in the first place. Don't know why you don't understand this logic, and perhaps you should accept that perspective and likewise move on. Third, neither Cotto nor Alvarez have expressed any interest in unification fights at 154 already; why in the world would Martinez having a belt make the slightest bit of difference? Cotto has fought Mayorga and will soon fight Margarito, two guys who have accomplished absolutely nothing in that division. He has also expressed an interest in fighting Chavez sometime in the future. Chavez weighed 180 in his last fight BTW, so again, I must repeat that the size issue is not what's preventing Martinez from getting such fights. I am also once more curious who you think he should be fighting at 154 anyway. Dzinziruk in his last fight is the only name you've mentioned, but that ship has sailed. What other "decent" opponents are there at 154 that are suddenly going to get Martinez in big fights? Beyond this, champions at middleweight have fought guys coming up for generations. Should Marvin Hagler have moved down to make a Hearns or Leonard fight more credible? Should Hopkins have taken more catchweight bouts in order to get Oscar in the ring? Finally, while Barker is not the most resume-enhancing fight in the world, it does serve a purpose insofar as the fact that Barker is ranked so highly by the WBC narrows Chavez's options in the future. It also likely forces Chavez into fighting one of Martinez's stablemates, who, in the event of a win, will definitely be happy to fight him. You complain about Martinez "calling out" too many smaller fighters, but it's pretty clear to me Chavez is Martinez's top choice for a future opponent. To the extent that this will make it more likely to happen, the Barker fight is not a complete waste.
Martinez and Williams weighed the same amount in their second fight, and Martinez outweighed Dzinziruk by a whopping 3 pounds. You also might want to consult with FORMIDABLE on whether or not Pacquiao fights guys bigger than Martinez, as he seems to think that's not the case. Finally you seem to be unaware that Pacquiao is about to fight lightweight champion Juan Manuel Marquez. As you may recall, lightweights are generally smaller than welterweights.

Pac is a natural 140 fighter at the moment. Anyone who says otherwise is delusional. I don't care if he won a belt at 154 or beat a much larger man than him, he is not suited for any weight class above 147. Martinez calling out Pac is like Dawson calling out Martinez, and there is less weight between Dawson & Martinez.
