who is waiting to meet somebody of note certainly wants a shot..perhaps...at the winner of this tournament" from Al Bernstein commentating during the Froch vs Johnson fight. Says it all really.
For some reason, even though I don't have anything against him...... I'm desperate for him to get chinned by one of the Super Six contestants, even if it's Dirrell In many highly respected ratings panels he's seen as the #1 in the division, despite not having fought anyone who hasn't either been chinned before..... and being allowed personal officials that rescue him in his hour of need. And now he's facing a journeyman :-(
It's a shame that Lucian Bute still hasn't fought anyone on the level of any of the super 'six' contenders. Not even a Jermain Taylor, Allan Green, Glen Johnson or Andre Dirrell :-( The only good win he has on his 'unbeaten' record is when he avenged that time he got knocked out by Librado Andrade and even that was a couple of years ago now.
Bute's got it made. He's kept in the witness protection box feeding on scrubs and picking up free cheques, while the others fight it out and then he gets the spoils at the end. Bute can fight, no doubt about it and i think he would probabily give Ward a tougher fight then Carl just from a stylistic point of view, but his team have been taking the ****. He should be made to earn a shot at the winner of Froch/Ward and not given a free pass. But money talks and he puts a lot of bums on seats up there in Montreal.
IMO Butes credibility disappeared when Andrade slotted him and he was declared winner whilst not knowing whether he was batting or bowling
My perfect scenario would be Kessler beating Bute, Froch beating Ward. Froch vs Kessler rematch. I'm allowed to dream.
I think Froch would dominate Bute, and probably get rid of him in the late rounds. If he doesn't win his upcoming gimme fight inside the first round it'll be a showing up IMO.
