I was born by accident of birth in Scotland (why the **** my parents couldn't have gone to Carlisle for the day I'll never know) but I consider myself English. I've grown up and lived here. My parents are English also. I have a very distant german bloodline. Home is where the heart is. I could claim my Scottish rights as I was born there but choose not to.
What's annoying is people jumping on the bandwagon for places like Ireland because they might have a distant grandparent or parent from there. "Irish" matt macklin!? Don't make me laugh.

I am English, but I have Irish, Welsh, Scottish, French, and German decendents.

The UK is a mongrel nation...EVERYONE living here will have a foreign decendant somewhere down the line.

It's become quite fashionable these days to have Irish blood. Even Barrack Obama jumped on board, visiting his "ancestral home" on his visit to ireland recently.


In my opinion being British has got nothing to do with where your family originated from. Anybody who considers themselves British would know that...
