Heard an absolute gem the other week. Was in the sitting room with a bird watching the John Murray fight. She turns around to me and asks ''does it hurt when they hit you''. I replied with ''of course it does'' she then looks at me and says ''but they have gloves on''. I just shook my head in disbelief and took a sup of my drink.
Mate of mine who knows nothing about boxing told me that "he can't wait to pay £9.95 to watch Khan vs Mcloskey on Primetime" he went on to say "That with such a strong main event and a top notch undercard he's no idea why Sky rejected the idea of this event being on PPV" He concluded by saying that "Sky know nothing about boxing, boxing promotion or the filiming and production of boxing events and that he can't wait to see how the pros at Primetime do it"
"It's just two guys punching the head off each other, where's the skill in that" atsch In fairness, a large portion of the ESB community hold a similarly stupid opinion about MMA.
The guy who is by far the most knowledgeable about boxing out of all my mates (which isn't saying much), upon learning of Hopkins recent rematch victory over Jean Pascal, asked me if Bhop would now fight Mayweather. I don't know if it was just a dum moment where he wasn't thinking properly or what but I was shocked and appalled.
Luckily for me, one of my best mates is a huge boxing fan, so we can chat for ages about all things boxing, today for instance we talked about Tony Bellew, David Haye, Ricky Burns, Floyd Mayweather jnr, AND his ****wit of a dad, & Matthew macklin(my mate hates him lol) & Tyson Fury, & Kenny Anderson!:good However my favourite one is my mates story from a few years back when his cousin asked him "So when is Naz & Lennox Lewis going to fight?":scaredas: aah the casual boxing fans, you gotta love 'em
I spent ages getting a mate interested in boxing, showing him a few highlight vids etc. We sat and and watched Marquez v Diaz 2 and he became a bit of a pacman fan (watches his fights now usually). However I was talking to him about Mayweather once and he said something like 'Oh, I just thought he was a heavyweight.' I felt like we back at square one.
biceps are useless all punches are from the tricep. why you shouldn't listen to cage fighters for the technical point of technique
One of my friends is a casual fan of the sport, and whenever I tell him that this boxer or that boxer has lost a fight, he says ''Oh hes shite then, hes ****ing useless'' It doesnt matter who the fighter has lost to, once he has a loss on his record hes shite to my mate! I feel like strangling the **** whenever he says it
