The full draw shhets are up at the left hand side of the page,Ward got a dinger of a draw and should medal at least same with O Neill,Con Sheehan seems to have got a sticky one but is good enough to come through as is JJ.If young conlon beats yalfi he will prob meet Picardi of italy who is very experienced at this level.
Aside from Mc Monagle mc donagh the rest is doable if the lads bring their A game.

Re: McGuigan - I won't even respond to the allegation that he's the worst ever addition to it, if I reverted with a list of inferior boxers who are HOF'ers it would only add credence to your ridiculous claim that he doesn't deserve to be there. To clarify McGuigan was a fantastic boxer, he regularly appears on the top 100 British boxers of all times list despite the fact he isn't even British, if he's as crap as you say he is I wonder why the British have been claiming him for the past 3 decades.

He defeated the best Panamian boxer of all time. Regarding his retirement and defeat to Cruz - he had to deal with a lot in his relatively short career. He killed a man in the ring, his father died, he had a dispute with his promoter and he won and lost a world title in a relatively short period of time and he appears to have lost the hunger which was naturally a huge disappointment to his fans.

A relation of mine was involved with his promoter at the time and was at the Cruz fight. He swears blind to this day that McGuigan was fully aware of the conditions (heat & humidity) that the fight was taking place in but I still feel that a fighter would naturally take a fight and his people should have been watching his back. You may say it's a bit rich to complain afterwards and you might say that he was beaten fair and square but something tells me that an Hispanic Texan would perform better in the Las Vegas mid day heat than a lad born and bred in Clones, just my opinion - I could be wrong.

Re: Frampton - Again Brits claim him and informed observers predict that he's a world champion in the making, however I'm sure your better informed than they are :hi:

Re: Andy Lee - A very competent contendor in my opinion who's probably just off world class level, no one claims he's a world beater but he apparently under performs in big fights according to the respected State side boxing authorites who regularly see him train and spar.

Re: Kevin McBride - I think at this juncture, your just naming all the Irish boxers you know and insulting them...? :hey McBride is a journeyman and I don't think anyone is going to argue otherwise, he's a brave old soul all the same but probably isn't even in the top 3 current Irish heavyweights.

Re: Steve Collins - Hmmm pussied out... :verysad I don't think you could call anyone that fought Mike McCallum, Reggie Johnson, Chris Eubank and Nigel Benn a *****. Which Eubank fight did he loose? Was it the second one he won convincingly or the first one that Eubank claimed to have secured a draw in..? And more to the point which Benn fight did he loose.. The won were Benn hurt his ankle and retired or the other one were Benn quit on his stool...?

Re: John Duddy - A top contendor who never realised his true potential. Again, I don't think you'll hear anyone claim he was the best in the division or even the best Irish middleweight out there so I'm not sure why your attacking a thread related to Irish boxing and invoking Duddy's name in the process :think

Re: Coleman Barrett - The type of guy they describe across the water as "domestic level", hence he fights in tournaments like Prizefighter and has competitive contests against guys like Colin Kenna. Hopefully he'll give us a domestic clash against Martin Rogan in the future. A true boxing fan would enjoy a competitive clash between two well matched fighters even if it's not top level but you obviously just like getting smashed on a Saturday night and watching Ricky on PPV... :rasta

Re: Matthew Macklin - ****..? :-(( I wouldn't tend to agree, he's clearly established himself as being the dominant figure at European level and he's a worthy world title contendor but will probably be an unsuccesfull one.

Re: The Magee's : I assume your referring to Eamon and Brian who aren't related by the way. BTW - this is the same Eamon who put your good friend in your avator down, he's a member of the illustrios trio that are Magee, Mayweather and Pacquio. If Magee is a punchbag I wonder what the Hitman is . Brian is a decent Euro level fighter on the fringe of world level, he's mixed in good company and hopefully he'll get a good payday before he retires.

Re: Sutherland : You really are a class act. I look forward to your insightfull reply...
