iv seen the fight again and in all respect i dont see what the big deal is about bellew, hes a big lad for 175 but his punches fall way off the mark, i know he has many fans on this side of the forum, but im saying it how it is. the fight IMO was a pretty sloppy performance, i understand this mckenzie guys fought at higher weights but knockdowns aside there was nothing seperating these 2 for most the fight. i think exhaustion played a big role in mckenzie going down in the 8th.

It was a sloppy fight/performance and I think that TB would be the first to admit that

That was the first I had really seen of Bellew, and I must say I was no impressed at all. However you cannot judge someone by one performance, and he still did the business on the night.

Exactly. It wasnt the best performance. But what tony did show was amazing heart and ability to recover from a massive punch.

tony has a real problem finding his timing and range against boxers/movers. he has good technique and he is tough but these are learning fights.

bellew would get comprehensively outboxed and made to look like the mug of all mugs if he fought hopkins or dawson... too much ring craft and would make him miss all night. however, he could compete with the guys who will give him a fight (clev, diaconu, pascal, cloud) due to his power and heart.

against movers and rangy, intelligent boxers, he will struggle. froch could move up and beat him easily. groves could beat him with the same gameplan he used vs degale. degale would make him look like a mug. shumenov is a very good mover and would most likely win a 12 round decision.

the likes of tony jeffries or danny mcintosh would be cannon fodder for bellew and would be beaten so badly that it would be uncomfortable to watch. mckenzie might be able to make things awkward with his movement and explosive power but bellew can beat him if he sticks to the basics, as mckenzie has practically zero defence.

Mckenzie & Anderson > Paul Smith

Mckenzie is better than the French guy that nearly took Clev.

    Yet you don’t see.

smith is at 160. at 168, i agree anderson was better. if smith had move up to 175 and fought bellew i would hope that an ambulance would be nearby.

It was unfortunate Bellew blew his load and took the sucker TKO.

Because if that hook was starting to land I would have given 50% of the time left before he would have been KOed cold.

  11. Lets deal in the facts, what that fight proved was

    A) Bellow is not as good as we thought he was
    B) He doesn't have a great chin
    C) He be lucky to win a European title never mind go onto World

I speak as a Bellew fan, but after last couple of fights hes been exposed and found his level. His Boxing punching skills are so poor and he misses way too much from what he throws.

Hope he proves me wrong, but so far hes found his level. Only fact he posts on here we go easy and try to cover the facts with gold dust and nice flowers, otherwise we all be very blunt.

And bar the 2 knockdowns Bellew was Mayweather in there.

I think Bellew suffered the same problem as Froch did against Johnson.

well, due to his power we have to give him a chance at world level if he can land. he will get opportunities to land vs cloud/clev/diaconu/pascal. he can compete at world level imo but as i said, he will get boxed to pieces against rangy, crafty boxers.

i mean, look at his fights with ajisafe and mckenzie. how many more performances like that do we need to see to see the limitations. some talk about bellew as if he can be the best and has few weaknesses. this same thing happened to jamie moore over on boxrec when he was posting. some muppets even said he could beat paul williams, sergio martinez etc. then he goes and loses to rhodes. larry olubamiwo is another example. i had people arguing that olubamiwo could beat chisora and fury :patsch

as bellew posts, he becomes overrated. the chap has world class power though, we can't deny that.
