Do you think Rocky Marciano would be successful in today's heavyweight division?

    He was barely a cruiserweight, his resume is not the strongest, but he had a late start, made the best out of his physical disadvantages, and went undefeated.

    would the strength of today's big men be too much for him assuming he would fight in the division anyway, or is he a once in a lifetime fighter who would find ways to win?

    he would fight at cruiser. hes got to be 200 and over to make the HW's

    his resume was excellent littered with hall of famers

    but without getting into that which isnt that important to the thread

    he could hit very hard

    had tremndous heart could take louis and moores best shot

    had defense that nobody talks about though iit was great

    but i hate to say it he was small backthen but beat the odds

    but now i think he would be good but not unbeaten and maybe not champ a belt holder maybe

    i said assuming he fights as a heavyweight anyway.

    ive asked many people and there's no rule in boxing that says you have to be at a minimum weight for a heavyweight contest.

    ive never seen a guy weigh less than 200 pounds for a HW fight

    that is my feeling also.

    you mentioned power, do you think at his size of 185-190lbs he could hit hard enough to knock out people weighing 230-240?

    most of his knock out victims were close to his weight also, how would his power fare against a truly big man?

    It would be pretty silly to fight at HW if you weigh below 200 pounds.. but i dont think that there are any rules that doesnt allow you to be below 200 ibs for a HW fight..

    but it's appropriate for someone like Arreola who is a contender to be at least 60lbs overweight?

    Looking at the 2 fighters from a physical standpoint, i would rather be rocky in the fight than arreola who got fat rolls on his body every time he swings his arms.

    He wouldn't be unbeaten. Actually u can say this about a lot of ol time greats---that they would have more losses on thier records if they fought modern elite fighters. Henry Armstrong for instance, he was great for his era but I've seen his ol grainy b/w footage where he just puts his head down and threw nonstop punches. Now picture him fighting someone like Marquez who excels countering off the back foot.....JMM would eat up Henry Armstrong imo.

    Its day before weigh in today not day of anymore. He isn't even a cruiser in this age he is a light heavy.

    i dont think that being a light heavyweight automatically disqualifies your chances of victory against a heavyweight.

    i agree that size does matter, but a lot of people always assume that a bigger man would be victorious no matter who he's fighting.
