If Haye deserves credit for anything,it's being a fantastic self-promoter.His mouth got him a title shot he didn't deserve,a reputation for being an exciting fighter that he doesn't deserve,and being able to create a superbout out of a match-up that is,in reality,no more credible than Wladimir's matches with Chagaev and Chambers. Wlad will make mincemeat out of Haye,but he'll be doing so on the largest platform that he's ever competed on as a pro - and sometimes it takes a really big,hyped-up fight for the greater majority to start giving credit to the long underappreciated world champion that's involved.
I absolutely see Haye as a threat to Wladamir. He has the power, speed, trickery and ring generalship to make him pay for a single mistake. I don't think he will though. Studying Hayes fights, certain things become apparent. He does have stamina issues, which he will not be able to aford against Wlad in a protracted fight. Only he knows how good his chin realy is, but I suspect from what I see, that he knows that it is breakable. I think Wlad will see these things as well.
Didn't think much of Haye's chances, but he completely understands the right mentality. Talk isn't doing, but it's a good step to understanding that he has nailed down the strategy/mentality needed against Wlad. This gives me hope, as I'll be rooting for Haye.
I like Wladimir by knockout, but don't be surprised if David Haye manages to pull off the upset. It isn't impossible.
How is Wladimir's winning over Haye better than his win over Chris Byrd, who was a proven World Class fighter. Or over Russian Chagaev, who had gone about as close to proving himself as the no 3 in the world as one could. Haye looks like he might be good, but he is so unproven, it isnt funny. In fact, i could probably name 10 fighters he could fight, where it would literally be a 50-50 fight for Haye. And certainly you couldnt back Haye with too much confidence.
Agree, strongly. I think this particular fight has been built up mostly on shittalk rather than Haye's ability or resume. He's looked less than spectacular against old men and mediocre fighters. Wladimir will destroy him barring some freak accident. Adamek-Vitali seems more competitive to me.
Haye a big underdog for me.All other things aside, his semi retired fight schedule is an embarassment to British boxing legends like Tony "the Leicester tank" Sibson.
haye has his chance, so does wlad, they both have their advantages. I'll back Wlad's power and jab to get the job done late.
In saying all that I said though, Just because Haye is unproven doesnt mean he is necessarilly bad, i hope this is a great fight, and i would love to see a Haye Adamek double, for this simple reason that i think it would invigorate the entire heavyweight division. It is admittedly unlikely though. I agree that Adamek Vitali is the more competitive fight, and i would like nothing better than to see Adamek beat Vitali and go on to unify the titles.

Chagaev and Byrd were more accomplished when they fought Wlad. I could argue Ibragimov was more dangerous than Haye as well. A Boxing Magazine had a pannel of predictions. Something like 30 picked Wlad and only 3 picked for Haye.
