Fookin hell. Our Jimbo getting some love on ESB, and from the big boys who know boxing history as opposed to boxing myth and judging the past by today's low standards. Keep it up fellas. :good

When I finally got a hold of a copy of the full Ken Buchanan Jim watt fight a while ago & watched it for the first time, I was shocked to see Watt give a seasoned Buchanan one hell of a fight, & I said in here that I think a young Watt should have got the W.

Im not a fan of his as a commentator, but he was one helluva fighter, although I still cant understand to this day why he was so bad against Arguello.

Should've been urine tested after the Arguello fight, it was like he took a heroin hit before he came out.

    He was half-dead.

Watt was knocking on by then an Arguello was an ATG. I think Watt settled early on for a points loss and retirement.

Totally agreed, hero in the ring & as I said, I had him beating ken Buchanan, Watt like Carl Froch had an awkward style that most men couldnt work out.

Dont watch his last fight again though, better living with the good memories Geddy;)

I think i read an inteview with Watt where he said he was hoping to get into the fight in the second half but just couldnt do it. I just think he knew he was old, overmatced and wantedto get through the fight in one piece.

Sounds about right gaz, I have never heard watt talk about it, up here its always Buchanan they ask about & Jim rightfully IMO always harbours a bit of a grudge about the refs decision.
Man, crazy to think a young Watt & a Buchanan still somewhat fresh from a controversial defeat to Roberto Duran had a fight that was judged by a lone ref!!!

Ive never seen Watt-Ken B Dunks, Ill have to get a copy and give it a watch. It'd be an impressive 'win' for a young Jim Watt.

Let's be honest, if he wasn't presenting on Sky Sports this thread would have never been made calling for his induction into the IBHOF.

A bigger shocker is the ever elevating stature of Johnny Nelson. He was never anything but a paper Champion in the most unattractive weak division in the sport at the time.
