    Simply put, tonight's fight makes or breaks Canelo Alvarez, who's in for the toughest fight of his young career, fighting a legitimate top LMW unbeaten at 154 (Rhodes' losses came earlier in his career at MW & SMW). 20yo Saul, who's rather a natural WW but moved up when Jose Sulaiman gifted him a bogus LMW belt, is facing someone physically stronger with a lot more experience, a nice skill set and a good fighting spirit, so luckily for Canelo's critics, he'll either show the goods or goes back home with his 1st pro loss. Now I dunno if Saul will get any credit if let's say he scores a close decision victory, but following Rhodes' unbeaten run (10-0, 8KOs, really nice wins), any legit victory over Sheffield star is as good as legit world title win in my book. As for Ryan, it's been a long road but now he's here and has nothing to lose, so expect him going for it and make this an excellent fight. Don't miss it!

    I expect Alverez to take this quite comftably, dont think Rhodes will give him a **** easy night but the Mexican should take this one in his stride. IF, hes as good as he is being made out to be.

    If he isnt and serious flaws in his game have just not been exposed then Rhodes could be the man to highlight them all. Lookin forward to it, presumin its guna be on late night in the UK.

    You stated above BigBone that Alvarez faces the toughest fight of his young career. Yet you think if he loses he's an overhyped chump?

    You don't think there are any other possibilities between champ & chump for the guy in a bout that you say yourself amounts to his toughest test yet?

    Well no, I recognize the substances on Canelo's resume (Vazquez, Gonzalez, N'Dou, Baldomir) and was actually one of the first posters here mentioning this kid back in the day. But since then expectations grew HUGE, so as far as boxing is concerned, fair or unfair, if he can't beat Rhodes, he'll be called exactly that, I've learned that much over the years.

    I think a loss wouldnt be the end of the world for alvarez being he is only 20. Now I think the biggest hype job is chavez jr

    Have you seen Canelo Greatest Hits on HBO or HBO OnDemand?

    It's just wrong, IMO. Let's just say IMO it's very craftily put together.

    For most fans Chavez and Alvarez fall into the same category. It would be a shame to see Canelo falling first who had it tough in those teenage years. But Rafael put the target on his back by choosing him for POTY.

    Alvarez should win pretty comfortably. Ryan is a good European fighter, but at this world level, he'll be a little over his head. Good test for Alvarez, but it's not one I'll be concerned about him losing.

    I expect a good fight, I don't think Alvarez will have it easy. Win or lose tho, it won't give Vargas the record as youngest jr middle champ that Canelo stole.
