I know Freddie Roach is a great trainer, so i'm really surprised he hasn't corrected some of Khans bad habits. If anything since training with Pacquiao Amir's picked up some of Manny's bad habits like just putting the earmuffs on and being a sucker for the uppercut.

I hope Freddie works on Khans flaws and doesn't just tell him about it. I swear you'll see a fighter with a serious but fixable flaw, but his trainer will just tell him about it and leave it at that. If your fighter is being hit with a certain punch it's your job to not only point it out, but actually work on it and replicate it again and again until the fighter does it without even knowing and it becomes instinctive. Fighters should get to a point where they react without even thinking about it. That's the difference between just being told about a flaw and being shown how to fix it by working on it days at a time. When you're told you think about doing the right thing once you're in the ring, when you work on it repetively you react and do the right thing instinctively.

Interesting to see what changes Pea has had on Zab. I've been watching some footage of Judah training and i think i know why he fades late in fights and has poor stamina. One aspect it's because of his style and makeup, but there's another reason. Watching Zab train i don't think he gets superior conditioning. Zab looks to me like a fighter who trains just to train or get down to the weight and not train to get in condition. Some fighters don't train to get in condition. They just jog instead of running etc. I don't think Zab makes his body go through ringer in training camps and i think that's one of the reasons he doesn't respond well late in fights. I don't think Zab has ever had a camp coordinator or someone to watch over everything.

To get what i mean i'll give a little example. We could all shadow box infront of a mirror on our own for 20mins nonstop, easy. But get someone to order you and tell you when to stop, when to increase the pace etc and it becomes a lot more difficult. This is the situation Zab's been in for most of his career and don't think he's learn to fight and be effective under those conditions. As they say in all gyms 'fatigue makes cowards of men'.

Slip touched on some great points.

We here stand at a point where we are questioning a fighters smartness, his ability to improve and his ability to adapt.

We are also questioning a trainers ability to outline flaws and poor areas in his fighters game and address them and work and improve on them until they are near gone.

It puts great questions ahead of us, time will have to tell, can these issues be resolved?.

Does Khan have the ring IQ that can improve? Can Roach help him to improve still?

Khan still only 24yrs would seem to still have time on his side, and only time will answer our questions.

Well I think most people who've followed khan with some sort of objectivity can agree that khan has very poor ring iq. Not many fighters have the ability of mayweather or calzaghe to adapt mid fight and develop a game plan on the fly. But what is more worrying for khan is that ever since he joined roach it's been drilled into about the importance of setting things up and following a gameplan, his biggest problem seems to be not being able to follow roaches plan. I find it hard to believe he fought maidana the way he did and it was roach had planned it, in fact after the fight roach more or less said he hadn't fought the way he wanted him too. Same goes for some of the utter amateur level stuff he pulled in the mccloskey bout.

No doubting he has several elite level attributes, but thinking is not one of them. As others have pointed out, his footwork is **** poor too. What shouldn't be under estimated is his conditioning and excellent sparring, and it's probably these attributes that help him most with his current style.

In this next fight, I want khan to show improvement in his footwork, general coordination, and the way he commands the ring. Would like him to also show the ability to think on his feet and adapt mid fight if he needs to.

I think in the Maidana fight Khan totally went off plan maybe he wanted to prove a point that he can take a shot or two all this glass jaw business might of got to him, I think Roach and Khan underestimated Maidana, I also think Khan had stamina problems(Khan i think overtrained for the fight in a 12 week camp) in that fight which led to him being sloppy in and bring back bad habits like keeping that right hand low in the 10th rd vs Maidana.

I disagree with the idea since Khan joining Rocah he does not stick to gamplans, I think Maidana was the first fight in which he done this, and from a trainers point of view I would be very unhappy with Khan, but maybe Roach learnt a few things about Khan which he did not before like Heart and some sort of a chin.

Khan kept to good tight gamplans with ***an, MAB, Kotelnik, Paulie, vs Paulie was Khan's best performance to date IMO he used his range and jab to control the whole fight. For me Khan's best weapon should be that jab he used in the Paulie fight, crisp, fast, hard, straight.

I think Khan has problems with pressure fighters who walk him down, but good fighters learn from these types of fights so they can better themselves for future fights like that.

I think Khan is more suited and comfortable vs boxers where he can use his speed to get off first land and get out.

Khan also does have a foot work and balance problems, Roach needs to work on this, i also hope moving to 147 Khan can put more weight on his still skinny legs, bounce around less with bigger legs so he can have better balance and sit down more on his shots to overall improve his power.

    1-25% and that's being kind.

I've stuck up for Khan for a while, but this fight is largely a farce, Judah is done, he has been done for literally years.

I know it might be a bit unfair considering what a legend Morales is, but he showed that even at his point in his career where he was slow, that you could outbox Maidana and pick him off easily with good footwork and fundamentals.

Khan problems with footwork and reckless adherence to gameplans make him a sitting duck against more skilled operators.

I agree his most impressive win was against malignaggi. Against Kotelnik he seemed to be on the back foot throughout the fight and while he dominated the exchanges, he was totally spent by rd 12.

It's still early in his career but I want to see some improvements in his next fight.

Morales did really show how to outbox Maidana, I guess somethings like footwork and foot placement and his old move and shuffle and he made Maidana miss alot of shots.

Bearing in mind this was a non-world title fight plus a fight Maidana should of won easy by beating a faded legend, i think Maidana took the fight a bit light but taking nothing away from the old legend.

Yeah I hope to see more improvements in Khan, and I hope to see him improve for at least another few more years still, in boxing terms Khan is still pretty young.

Khan seems to be a sucker for the right hook, the amount of times Kotelnik and Maidana hit him flush with that shot is inexcusable... But hey there's no doubting he is improving and will get better.
