Oscar said he brawl with Tito if they had a rematch...I wish he woulda done that in the first..Tito woulda stopped him late or DLH woulda won a close decision..
DLH didnt want to spare a few mil...Tito said they chased a rematch with Bhop too but he refused numerous times to no avail. I miss the good old days!
Quite rightly. Trinidad deserved a better share as the winner of the first fight (however controversial) but De La Hoya was easily the larger draw.
Maybe and honestly i wont disagree... But Tito made half as much for losing to Hops... he knew Oscar had his numberdeal
Tito's fight and purse w/ Hops had nothing to do with DLH. The talks of the rematch were dead years before.
As others have said, money and weight were the issues. I actually think a second fight would have been much better. Oscar was being crucified by the fans for the way he fought, specifically in the last few rounds. He was hurt by the criticism and I think he would have fought Tito in a re-match the same way he fought Shane, in order to prove he wasn't a "chicken". Of course, that would have played right into Tito's hands ...
The usual reasons fights don't happen. I think a second fight at 154 would have been much more entertaining than the first fight at 147, and I think it would have been pretty even.
