Agreed..the braddock victory was a fluke...and if Baer had been rematched and came in to the fight in a serious manner, he would have been the first to regain the title...and by a knockout.

Sonny Liston was a great fighter but a horrible champion.

Axel Shulz and Francois Botha were exemplary champions.

    1. Yes I mean Lineal

    2. Yes, when that ATG is nowhere near his prime the first fight, and then far past his prime in the 2nd fight.

Johansson would have knocked out Hart, Moorer, Fitzsimmons and Burns in 1-2 rounds. He Would have destroyed Jess Willard in 7-8 rounds. He also would have busted up Braddock badly till the ref stopped it. Briggs and Foreman would have gotten outpointed. Johansson was a killer, a fundamentely sound killer who picked his spots really well and used ring science and a good left jab to set up his Bingo. Johansson's two devastatng wins over the highly skilled # eddie machen and prime floyd patterson are better wins than anything these top 10 men have on their resume for the most part.

Fitzsimmons at 165lb would not be able to compete with the very good 200lb + guys in my opinion.

    Are you serious ?

Only a couple of months ago you spent much of your time on here implying Johansson was a coward and a unskilled puncher who got lucky.

Now you say, "Johansson was a killer, a fundamentely sound killer who picked his spots really well and used ring science and a good left jab to set up his Bingo".

Have you changed your opinion of Ingo very recently ?

Nope...I think Ingo is a huge threat to any boxers/stylists...ive said this for years. His kryptonite is Big Punchers who are very good fighters. Yes Ingemar would get raped in the ass by Liston.

Ingo was a weak chinned, poorly conditioned fighter with nothing at all besides a right hand ... I strongly believe his KO of Machen was a one in ten fluke .. his victory over Patterson an advertisment for Floyd's many weaknesses rather than any of his own strengths .. to say that Ingo KO's Fitz in two rounds really is quite a statement.

I think that a number of fighters are getting a raw deal here, Hart and Burns especialy. I would have thought that Leon Spinks was a lock for the #1 slot.
