Its so good to hear everyone in the domestic game talking about English, C'Wealth, European, British etc Inevitably guys like DeGale and Groves are becoming each others mandatories. If guys are not on world class level, and most won't be, then they inevitably have to meet as they can't hide behind shite like the WBU.

Would you agree that the boxing scene is domestically much healthier and thanks to Sky??

Hmm it depends. I mean in a way everything is thanks to Sky as they're the only consistent boxing broadcaster in this country.

But yeah, boxing is in a very good state at the moment over here. As you say, nearly everyone seems to be talking about becoming British champion and we've got some great domestic fights to look forward to (Murray/Mitchell, Chisora/Fury, McDonnell/Hall etc)

Boxing's in a good state atm and I was very pessimistic to the way it was at the start of this year :good

Mismatches are always gonna happen in boxing, at every level. If there was only one promoter or organisation for the whole of this country, then you'd have genuine competitive fights all the way through. But it's just not possible and it's understandable for promoters, managers and fighters themselves to only be concerned with their own interests.

Yep. They've helped keep the British title very relevant, promotors would be steering more fighters to the International/Intercontinental route if Sky didn't strongly prefer the British as a main event. They should dump the Commonwealth though, many useless opponents are brought in for that one and it gives fighters a way to avoid tough British title fights (at least for a little while), while still headlining bills on Sky.

The money Sky has been pumping into boxing and their promotion of the sport has undoubtedly helped a lot aswell.If it wasn't for Sky the pro scene would probably be roughly on the Spanish level. I think quite a few top British amateurs simply wouldn't have turned pro if Sky didn't exist.

 

Forgot the WBF. I don't understand why they make their belts look so ugly. If they looked good I think they would have more luck.

OUR national games has whored itself out. SKY haven't done **** but pump money into the Premiership. And look what they've done with it.

ITV and BBC don't give a **** about boxing.

 

Terrestrial TV doesn't give a toss about showing boxing, that's why they've pulled out of showing it completely.

Let's be real, this isn't a case of Sky putting more money in than other channels. When Setanta came around, Sky had no problem them taking the majority of boxing. Same when ITV had a regular 'Big fight live' every month.

Every year the number of British title fights is going up and nearly all of them are getting screened by Sky Sports. Credit where it's due, Sky have been good for boxing, especially over the last year or so :good
