I backed him £50 with paddy on 15/2 for him to win by ko/tko/dq, really thought he'd come in fighting like he did against Moore, obviously he has waned since then and Moore isnt the best of guaging sticks to compare Alvarez who looks the bollocks to be fair...
This. He looked like he was pacing himself rather than try to win. It doesnt matter how fit you think you are, if you have not trained at altitude for a fight at altitude - you will be catching your breath very early in the fight.
Some stupid opinions of this thread, most notably from the thread starter. Alvarez is an absolute beast and Rhodes quickly worked out, as did Hatton, that he could not put a dent in him. He did try in fits and starts to get something going, but was getting punished everytime he went on the offensive. Alvarez will destroy much better men than Ryan and he gave a creditable performance against a very very good young fighter.
I think it's one of those fights which is easy to say this. I also think it's one of those fights where one guy just totally outclassed the other and whatever he did would have been trumped.
Utterly disgraceful comment. As for 'ignoring his corner', I don't think it had anything to do with that. He just was outclassed. If you had someone in your corner telling you to do this, that and the other, it doesn't mean you can ****ing execute it, does it?
I dunno mate, if you take the thread starter and a couple of others out of the reckoning most people have been pretty reasonable IMHO. Rhodes just didn't have the tools in the box, no disgrace there.
Yeah, no offence - I just mean the ones slagging Rhodes off for some perceived 'lack of effort'. Not much you can do when the other bloke batters you hard every time you try something. Different class, literally. I was very impressed - I'd totally underestimated the ginner.
I think some people have this idea that if a fighter is getting outpointed he should just put his head down and charge forward swinging wildly in an heroic "do or die" last stand. I fancied Alvarez but I wasn't sure he was real world class, he showed he was last night.
Poor performance. We have seen over the last 12 months Older fighters really stepping up. He didn't throw any meaningful punches, dint hury Alrarez once, Hatton put up a better fight.
yeah when alvarez was 17 because that was his only shot against him alot of delusional posters sayin rhodes goin t get the ko and they say they irish blindly claim der fighters will win on this siteatsch
