To be fair to Billy (and Ricky) he isn't the first Allegedly ''world champion'' that fought stiffs after winning the belt against a good fighter.

Look at the murderer's row of challengers that Calzaghe fought until he faced Woodhall in 2000. Reid excepted, Branko Sobot (who ) Ferreira who was past it.

Maybe Ricky is a victim of the Froch love in that's going on at the minute?

 

Thats pish as ive seen a letter wrote to Ricky from the Ring Mag saying they would be delighted for him to fight Fana,SO BULL**** MY GOOD MAN LOL

 

Id bet Laraya against Gary everyday of the week

 

I apoligise if i sounded like a dick but people on here need to understand we only fight whos put in front of us,we,like you all want bigger fight and im sure they will come.If Ricky were to fight the winner of Murray and Mitchell and it wasnt for a title would people be happy,id say yes,i know Ricky would fight either in a heartbeat and beat them.

Fair Dues, i believe Buckland beats him. Layrea's would get broken down to body and his infighting IMO wouldn't stop Gary breaking it down.

Yeah your spot on mate. Tbh it's like that Ray Houghton on Talksport when callers had an opinion different to his he'd say ''your never played the game what do you know''. That reminds me of what Billy said earlier no need for it simple as that. You asked a pretty straight forward question.

We all on here (bar trolls) cos we love the sport and want to see it thrive. We would love to see Ricky and Billy have that big unification fight and see them celebrate unifying division.

We all want Ricky to thrive on better opposition.

And yeah Billy, no ones saying YOU or RICKY dont want to fight the big boys in the division, but it is a poor string of opponents. You do go on about Lee a lot, I remember trying to make a trhread about him and it turning into a Willie Limond tribute thread because you couldnt help yourself. Lee is fighting area level opponents when he should be fighting domestic level, Burns is fighting domestic(or lower?) level opponents when they should be world class. Some people are obviosuly just winding you up, but you dont react well to critcism of any kind.

I think it's reasonable to question the quality of Ricky's opposition since becoming champion. If he was British, Commonwealth and European champion nobody would really criticise, Laryea would have been alright for Liam Walsh, Evensen would be alright for Steven Smith and Cook for Sykes/Buckland.

But Burns defeated Martinez relatively easily. Surely that's proof enough that he's actually a good fighter and capable of beating highly ranked opponents instead of having them handpicked.
