I male Prime Barrera,Morales (at 122) about or very close to even money with GOmez...At 126 they beat him...At 130 they dominate him.

I think Prime Tapia would gave prime Zarate alot of problems at 118.

Lopez would have beat Chiquita fairly easily (styles).

DUran(or montreal and Palomino fight) would be at least even money to beat TOmmy at 147.

Chavez is a little underrated overall...BUt overrated at JL and Underrated at JW.

Barrera didnt improve his boxing ability after Junior Jones...He just became smarter(he always had them) and i know because i watched him come up at the forum,before the rest of the boxing world took notice.

For a short period of time Frankie Randall had atg hth skills...and would have given even a prime Chavez all he wanted,,and anyone else whoever fought at 149 all they wanted.


In a toe to toe slug fest (5x5 ring) cant think of anyone that would beat Jose"mastrito" Lopez(underachiever)....IMO combination of the best power-chin of any Welter ive seen.

Mayweather beats Pernell at anyweight.

 

I think Randall, on that night he beat Chavez, could have beaten JCC at any stage of his career.

 

That's not too unpopular an opinion..even if I agree with it D)..h to h he is definitely top 5.

 

Well disagree but i think hed give him hell and fight himclose...Chavez had slowed down a bit though in every way. COnditioning,speed,defense he was still a helluva fighter though,,by no means washed up but he was at about 80 to 85% when he fought Randall....Randall won convincingly but Chavez still made it somewhat close....That extra 15 to 20% might have pulled it out.

Tell you one thing that version of Randall is all wrong for Tszyu....And even gives pryor all he wants,,or dare i say pull it out!!

 

That Barrera hands down won the first fight against Morales seems to be a pretty unpopular opinion. The same with Norton winning against Young without any controversy.

 

Don't see what's so controversial about that; he did fight Monzon twice after all.

Here's my top 10, in no particular order. Some I've posted before, others are fresh as a gas station Twinkie:

1. Donaire beats Canto.

2. Freddie Steele knocks out Roy Jones.

3. Holyfield has no business being ranked behind Liston on a Heavyweight ATG list. Evander's got a far superior resume and would win H2H.

4. Chrs Byrd would have at least a 50% chance of taking a decision off of young Foreman.

5. Floyd Mayweather, at his best, beats the Bernard Hopkins that lost to Roy in 1993.

6. Pac beats Arguello.

7. Sugar Ray Robinson could completely unify 175 today, so long as the sanctioning bodies didn't screw him.

8. Gene Tunney would've been heavyweight champion in the 1970's.

9. The sport's been riddled with PED's over the last 40 years, and more than a few big names have used them.

10. That said, PED testing is itself a complete waste of time and money that's as politically driven and corrupt as the rest of boxing.

 

Agree with almost all of those. I have my doubts about Tunney in the 70s and Byrd/Foreman, but some good stuff there.

 

Floyd would get totally slaughtered by by the early aggressive hopkins imo.some interesting ones though, no doubt.

sticking to Floyd.At 154 he would be beaten very comfortably by kalule especially if not fought in a big ring.

Mosley and Oscar were just solid serviceables types above 147.

Hugo Corro was a far superior fighter and cutie to Sumbu Kalambay.

 

Toney's head/upper body movement is overrated. He often dipped too low without really bending his knees properly when ducking.

If I read one more analysis of how Monzon was an unrivalled genius in his unorthodoxy and how Burley really was a proper techcian, despite lunging in and having no guard, by virtue of strained fencing metaphores, I'll retch.
