dont think its got anything to do with stepping in a ring or not. Plenty of knowledgeable people out there that havnt and plenty that have that seem to talk through their arse. Makes no difference you get ignorant idiots across all sports and all walks of life. Unfortunately there seems to be an incredibly high number on this forum.... gladly mostly in the general :D

I've already been pulled up on the getting in the ring line, and I partially withdraw that. I just detest the lynch mob mentality of the armchair knockers who have the timerity to have a go at Ryan Rhodes, for example, who has pursued his dream across the globe and now has to come to terms with defeat and, maybe, the end of his career. The money he has earned will be good but, I would bet less than an average premier league player will earn in three or four weeks. It might be futile to say they should show some respect to fighters like Ryan and to those like Watt, Darke, Rawling and McCrory who have over a century of broadcast experience between them, but it would make this forum a better place if they did.
Boxing is somewhere sportsmen, literally, risk their lives for our entertainment. I know a fair few post on here, and good on them for doing so. Those who bash them from their anonymous lap-top should take time to remember that once in a while.

i wasnt pulling you up on it i agree with you pretty much. Plenty of people think they have a superior knowledge if they have been in a ring. I myself have boxed and been in the ring and it does give you some insight into stuff maybe someone who hasnt wouldnt get. But theres plenty of people too that i can think of from my gym that are thick as **** and dont know **** about boxing they just enjoy beating people up.

I personally hate seeing threads like Ryan Rhodes didnt try he should have done better posted by people that have never had to go through a minute fraction of what that man has gone through. But at the end of the day that comes with the sport your open to criticism if you box in the public eye and want to earn your living that way. I just hate it when weather the person has been in the ring or not comes out with abusive bull****.

I agree with most of this, except your defence of Nelson, who imo is a rubbish pundit on fight night but does ok with docs and on Ringside.

By the way, what do you think of this http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/showthread.php?p=9952435#post9952435

    Agreed Mr Cruncher.

The holier than though, god-like ramblings from the op in that thrad are ridiculous. He's a well known mentalist on these forums so pay no mind to the likes of him. :thumbsup

should detectives not go after criminals until they commit a crime themself?

boxing fans judge fighters in their context, not against themselves. when a fan calls tszyu a quitter, they aren't saying they are better, they are comparing tszyu to guys like ali as that is the context inwhich they engage.

Good shout Carrot - I've kept out of most of the Anti-Sky debates due to the ott negativity and debates that would be impossible to win. Yeah some comments a warranted but some "I'm not watching the boxing on Sky cos they put adverts on between rounds" zzzzz.
Well done Sky - that last episode of Ringside was top draw too.

(There should still be a gap for Buncey though. Wasn't there a petition online a few years ago when Setanta went tits up?)
