Because of Frank ******'s match making. Ricky Burns - a man who basically sums up A fans fighter, willing to face anyone (look at his record on the way up the ranks) has become the most unpopular fighter on ESB. It's a real shame actually guys, remember Ricky doesn't choose his opponents and I can't imagine many fighters would be willing to go against a powerful promoter like Frank ****** by disagreeing with his moves in case he takes a disliking to you, after all their livelihood in his hands. I'd also like to add that the Cook fight is actually relatively decent IMO. He's a former holder of the belt and even if he hasn't been active lately, it's still a logical fight.
hmm. Lets work this one out. The man is a world class trainer with a current world champion in his stable. Then there is you, Ironsense, with about as much sense as my iron. Someones turned your heat up too high iron, you need to switch off for a while & cool down
Mik my not so young friend anymore, you still think these characters here want to see Ricky fight the best in every defence so he can claim his place as a great? Mik... They are all hating cos hes a world champ & they want to see him beat sooner than later. Thats why they are coming up with wishlists, cos they want to see Ricky lose as soon as possible. Dont buy their bull****. Nelson dont & I dont, & why? cos we are old & experienced. Dont get sucked in by their bull****, cos Burns could step up & beat Carl Froch in his next fight & they would still be bitching. PS, not all of the posters here, cos there are some good people who want to see the best for Burns. You know who you are.
Hes made a couple of crap defences so what,he will fight anyone and hardly anyone gave him a chance before the Martinez fight yet now I see some people trying to downplay the win by saying "Martinez was only #1 by default".
Mate nobody in the SFW division punches faster, ask people who have shared a ring with him in the last 12 months
Eh mate your better going to speak to the polar bears ,they will make more sense than you, your a TIT!
I think Burns would have a hard time with PDL. He's improved greatly as a boxer and can still punch pretty hard. I'd make him favourite to beat Burns, probably get him out of there late.
Let's be realistic, Ricky Burns is a domestic level fighter who wasn't even successful at British level and lost both times he stepped up against Alex Arthur and Carl Johanneson. He then racked up a winning run against a bunch of journeymen with really bad records and got handed a vacant commonwealth title :-( by beating an afrobum that Paul Truscott beat. He defends it a few times against nobody of note and gets a shot at one of the belts. The only good win of his career came against Roman Martinez who hasn't really done anything himself and was ill going into the fight and suffered from jet lag after flying four thousand miles to fight in Burns' own country. It was still a big upset win and Burns deserved credit for winning. Burns then defends this title against an inexperienced midget and another afrobum who'd already failed to win domestic titles in Ghana. Ricky Burns is a glorified British champion who hasn't even really proved himself domestically and the likes of Gary Sykes, Gary Buckland and Steve Foster would give him a test. That's why he's defending this title against another domestic level opponent in Nicky Cook in his next fight. Not to put too fine a point on it but Adrien Broner would destroy Ricky Burns. And aside from Billy Nelson, I don't see how anyone could disagree with anything I've written above.
