Mate i think your taking this a bit personal, fair enough if he has insulted you but everyone knows burns' defences have been a joke but Billy isnt gonna say that he's gonna defend his fighter. What he shouldnt have done is criticise other fighter choice of opponents. But seriously what is he gonna say?
To be honest i couldnt give a **** if its called stearling sterling stirling, the point remains the same. My mum is from zimbabwe too, a small place called harari i think, might spell that ****er wrong too, makes no odds cos she was still born there. The fact my granddad is scotich shouldnt have any relevance, its just that billy out of nowhere calls me anti-scottish with no apparent basis to do so. Thats like me saying he dont like the welsh cos he doesnt rate buckland that highly? i would be as stupid as him to do so... The thread wasnt written in an offensive way, and if you construed it as so then i really do apologise (remember that it is me that slagged bobby palmer off for doing the same). Im frustrated at the fact Billy dodges the question so i made the thread abrupt and consise, i dont like the burns v cook fight but hey what can i do about it, but the fact billy justifies it and then kicks someone else in for doing the same is a contradiction in terms surely? As always guys, wish you all the best and even you billy, just dont be ripping other fighters pal cos the old adage 'people in glass houses shouldn't throw stones'. from no on guys, if billy refrains to answer then this thread is pointless as its just turning into a slanging match and it wasnt meant to be one. I just want an honest answer from a supposedly honest guy, is that really too much to ask?
I think Billy's problem is that he becomes too defensive about Burns. People are entitled to say what they want about Burns, provided it's fair, balanced and backed up, rather than just guff from Nutjob. But I don't see anyone criticising him personally, nor is there any ''**** him, he's a sweaty'' going on. All people want is for him to face the best fighters. Is that so unreasonable? Sure, not every British fighter is able to fight seven world class fighters in a row like Froch has, for various reasons, but we should at least see Burns fighting people ranked in the Ring top 10. Evensen was a midget who'd be alright for Stephen Smith, Laryea and Cook for Liam Walsh. It's just not good enough. When Burns does face another world class fighter he'll be ****ed because he'll be so inexperienced against top class opponents, despite probably making a dozen defences of his ''world'' title. We've had far too many of these ''Allegedly'' champions, it's not good for the sport, nor is it good for Burns himself. I'm 100% convinced that he'd fight anyone. If that means sacking Allegedly, then he should be willing to do so and move to Matchroom.
Well mate, you have got the jist of the thread, so in that case it was all worth it mate. I dont want him to anything other than be honest to us (the paying fans) and more importantly honest to himself. If this is Burn's last gimme then it has all been worth it imo :good
:deal I couldnt have said that any better, just perfect mate and exactly what i mean:good Can billy not see i love the sport (which i know **** all about )
No he answered your question, but then you had to come back with the nonsense about don't use ****** as an excuse etc. How much influence do you honestly think Billy has over ******? you do know they are on a contract that they have to honour don't you? so what would your answer be to the situation?do you honestly think Billy is going to come on here and do anything other than defend Ricky? Don't worry I know it's your thread, but it had a hidden agenda right from the very beginning. If it was a simple question you could have PM'd it to him, but instead you just wanted to start a thread and argument. His champ might have had 3 in a row, but don't put that on Billy and Ricky's head because if you know anything about Ricky Burns career you'll know all through his career Ricky hasn't been scared of a tough fight. Don't give me the whole criminal thing about being anti scottish, you can't even spell Stirling correctly. I would even guess you've never set foot in the place, so don't try and come over as being deeply offended over that statement.
Just because he's a boxing trainer, that doesn't make him immune to criticism! As for Brummylad hating the Scottish, I don't know how you can read that from his posts... He's simply criticised Burn's level of opposition... We all know it's weak. It just seems like Burns is playing the game/milking the fans with **** opposition rather than seeking to be the best. It's probably not his fault, but it's still bull****! :tired It's not helping the survival and progress of boxing and definitely fuelling the fans who switch to mma. :-(
:deal The thing is he gets so defensive but must recognise that most people on here want to see Burns do well.
First off, you couldnt be more right about ricky's career, he has fought quality opposition pre title. Which is what makes this situation more of a joke surely :bart Secondly, im not offended out not being scottish or proud of my roots, just mor the fact im labelled a racist :-(
:deal Yet another board member who agree's and cant see any slagging off or anti-scottish vibe. He too can see what i mean about nail fight in the health of boxing coffin. He also agree's that burns is a top fighter and should be fighting fighter alike, he too must know **** all about boxing...
You seriously think Ricky Burns, someone who's barely recognised outside of his hometown is putting a nail in the coffin to boxing? Haye vs Harrison on PPV type of fights are what's killing boxing. Get a grip :fire
Yeah, what I actually meant was, " Burns fighting Laryea, Evensen and Cook is going to fill places to capacity due to the highly competitive nature of the fights. MMA fans are going to be sick when they realise what they're missing" atsch Now get ****ed.:hi:
Yep, we all do. I had £100 on Martinez inside three rounds, and found myself shouting at the telly wanting Burns not to get involved because he was beating him easily on the outside. He was a big underdog and won - clearly - and would win even easier in a rematch..... so why not do the rematch, or fight other men in the top 10? I'd be delighted if Burns cleaned up the division, or if he moved up to 135, took on a world class fighter and gave his all in a win or defeat. But crucially Burns is selling HIMSELF short, much like Calzaghe did, like Hatton did for a few years too. In 20 years time, people will be talking about Lewis dominating the HW division, Hatton giving his all against Mayweather and Froch fighting a succession of world class fighters. Nobody will talk about Michael Bentt or Herbie Hide, other than in trivia quizzes. Burns surely doesn't want to fall into that category surely?
