How is Russel too small? He is a featherweight and 1 inch shorter then donaire.. Donaire is 5'6. Donaire fights at a lower weight then Russell also..
He looks good but he hasnt even fought anyone in the top 30 of the division yet so lets wait and see what he does when he's not fighting tomato cans. And with 16 fights under his belt I think it's time to start stepping up and fighting gate keeper level fighters. In his next fight or two he should get matched against a Cornelious Lock or Miguel Roman type fighter and then if he looks good against them then I'd like to see him against Escalante or Remillard then put him in with Cruz or another prospect/ contender like Billy Dib, Juan Carlos Burgos or maybe a title shot vs Barros even though I dont think he beats Caballero. The kid looks to be the goods but we need to see him prove it against good fighters but for some reason I see his team moving him rather slow and I dont see him stepping up til another 4 or 5 fights. And lets also wait to see Doanire at 122 before thinking what he'll do at 126. Everyone is getting way to ahead of themselves.
too early to hype, usually the fighters who come out really good are not the ones getting a lot of hype so we'll see. And from what i've seen donaire will knock him out he still needs a lot of work to do. Handspeed is looking pretty good though
He's the real deal. Skills and attitude to match. Comes in wanting to get rid of his opponent. I expect a title shot before the end of 2012.
This doesn't even fight on ESPN main event but now he's touted as the next to give donaire hell. What's next? The next sugar ray Leonard as soon as this kid beats a top ten guy in his division? ****ing Jeezzzzzz atsch
you see an impressive fighter on tv... you take note of the name... run to your pc... login to ESB... create a thread with a title, this john doe will beat blah blah bigtime! he is his nightmare... classic!
once the player gets starched by another anon fighter, you disappear for a while then come back with a vengeance, but still trolling.
Too early indeed!! I've been watching Russel Jr fights and what I can say is that he has a lot of dog in him as well as quickness (kind of obvious). The main problem will be his size: 61" of reach is not much and he is 5'5. At this stage of his career he's got plenty of time to develop but when I picture him in the ring with a guy of Salido' size I must say it does not look good. Anyway time is on his side. To the TS: Donaire shouldn't even be mentioned here.
