The good thing about Marquez has an opponent for Pacquiao is that he won't show him respect like Mosley and Cotto did, he will not go into survival mode and will opt to fight tooth and nail and not hold back if he gets Pacquiao in any signs of trouble. However this is at a much higher weight than their previous clashes and we all know Marquez looked very much like a little man out of his depth against Floyd Mayweather Jr. Like I said before Marquez is a warrior, he will go toe to toe with Pacquiao and try to make the fight pretty much like their first 2, the problem with that is, it's playing right into Pacquio's hands and Pacquiao is a better fighter now than he was in those fights, hits a lot harder and faster than both Katsidis and Diaz (who both had Marquez in serious trouble at times) It might seem like a shock to some but I honestly see Pacquiao gettting Marquez out of there very early with Marquez having to even climb off the canvas a few times, I can see Pacquiao making a huge statement with this performance and Marquez will be stopped in (very early I know) the third or fourth round. So, there you have it Pacquiao by TKO in rd 3 or 4
I'd say Marquez has taken to this sort of weight far less comfortably than Pac has, who if anything is possibly excelling there, is as good as he ever has been. I'd say at this weight, taking into account Marquez's age too, Pac is very much holding all the cards.
Pacquiao by decision. He's not going to just come out all guns blazing against Marquez, of that I'm certain. For starters, he's up against someone that firstly can use both hands, and secondly knows exactly how to fight him...... to diffuse some of his weapons and land hard shots of his own. Don't be surprised if there's another controversial ending :yep
It wouldn't surprise me if he came in at around 135, getting in the ring around 145. The weight really is pretty irrelevant. If I were Pacquiao I'd come in around 140, the extra lb'age doesn't really help him in any fight, more so in this one. It's not going to be a physical fight with lots of wrestling, nor is his opponent going to be over 160lbs in the ring. Would love it if Marquez got the W over Pacquiao, but realistically he shut him down very effectively last time and didn't get it, so would struggle to do so this time too.
Take away the knockdowns and Marquez had the better of PAC in both their previous fights And the weight on the night shouldn't be drastically different either from their last fight However PAC is still probably at his peak and a better fighter than when they last met, Marquez arguably gone beyond his, it's hard to see beyond PAC, he will be too strong By ko if Marquez engages, points if Marquez goes into survival mode
I'm not sure it's just a case of 'take away the knockdowns' though. Manny was able to put Marquez down what 5 times in their last 2 fights? Now Pacquiao is even more powerful and Marquez is even more vulnerable and older. I think the most likely outcome is Pacquiao to stop him, possibly early but the great thing about this fight is you wouldn't want to write Marquez off too much. If he can hang in there, he can definitely outbox and trade with Manny and we could be in for another close one.
The weight is irrelevant. They're both the same size, they always have been. I think Pac wins by late stoppage. JMM is getting old and the last time he went 12 rounds, Diaz II, he was blowing big time in the last 2 rounds. Pac won't let him off the hook like Diaz did.
Yeah totally agree, I was just saying that in the quieter spots of the fights Marquez controlled the fights. But those explosive bursts will likely be more impactful now from PAC.
I honestly don't know why people keep overlooking this fact. Pac and JMM's fight-night weights the last time they fought were: - 145 - 141 Their weights for the Margarito and Katsidis fights were: - 148 - 145 And people are still under the impression that JMM is being forced to go up in weight.
Pac will do ok 1st couple rounds. Marquez will school him for many of rounds 2-9, then Pac's conditioning will get him back into the fight as Marquez tires. I think this fight will follow the other 2, a close win for Marquez but Pac getting the nod!
