Having the experance of fighting Hagler once before Leonard wins a clear decision over him in a second fight and stops Pryor in the late rounds.

Hagler did want the rematch with Leonard. Only after continuing stumbling blocks in negotiations did Marvin retire for good.

I think Hagler could have sneaked a UD over Leonard if he managed to get a rematch within 6-8 months of the frst bout, but I would not say this with 100% certainty. He was definitely diminishing by that point, but the experience of the first fight might have offered him enough to pull it out. I think Leonard would beat Pryor quite comfortably.

Pryor was calling Leonard out on a regular basis ..and when negotiations started Pryor priced himself out.. ( THis was before Arguello fight) He would have got big money had he already had the arguello win... Or if Leonard was still active after the Arguello win.

    Nonsense.
    It was Leonard who "retired".
Hagler wanted the rematch, and was saying so throughout 1987.
He announced his retirement in June 1988, saying he was sick of waiting.
This was around the time Sugar Ray Leonard started talking about coming back to fight Don Lalonde.

Hagler by early brutal vicious knockout, if Leonard hadn't cheated by getting a bigger ring, paying the referee, judges and crowd and goading Hagler into complacency by staying away from the sport for so long he'd have had no hope

Leonard payed the referee, the judges and the crowd and forced Hagler to be complacent by staying away? I've heard some good conspiracy theories before, but this is a doozy! :good

I don't think a Hagler v Leonard rematch would have been much good anyway, to be honest.

The first fight came way too late, really. Hagler was past his prime and Leonard was no longer an active fighter. They put on a decent show once, but a second go probably would have been a stinker.

Hagler was NOT gonna get any better after 1987.... That is why Hagler gave up the ghost and moved to Italy to film stupid flicks nobody cares about... Hagler had enough of boxing.... Meanwhile, SRL looked superb in his '87 narrow points win over Hagler in Vegas.... SRL shook off a lotta rust there, too... I think SRL would've won another decision over Hagler had they fought again in either Nov. 1987 or early 1988... Hagler still had skill and conditioning, but he was slower than SRL without doubt.... It was Ray's speed, savvy and movement that offset Hagler in fight # 1....

As for Ray Leonard fighting Aaron Pryor, well, only in 1982 or 1983 would've made any sense at all.... 1984 would still be feesible, but **** was surfacing badly for Pryor by then...... Anyway, 1982 SRL parks Aaron Pryor like a Cadillac inside 6 rds..... Pryor too sloppy and reckless and ends up getting nailed by Ray's combo's that spell doom for Pryor....
