http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/ot...t-title-fight-if-he-uses-his-power-early.html Roach, speaking exclusively to The Daily Telegraph, believes Klitschko has weaknesses against smaller, aggressive fighters who can put the giant Ukrainian, unbeaten in 13 successive heavyweight fights over five years, under physical and mental duress. "The key to this fight for Haye is to take Wladimirs confidence away, and do it early," he said. "Take him out of his comfort zone. "I think Haye has a great opportunity if he goes out there early and uses his power, and tries to take Wladimirs confidence away. Thats the best way for him to fight this, but Haye needs to take that window of opportunity. Being forced anywhere outside Wladimirs comfort zone is his greatest weakness. He does lack confidence as a fighter and we discussed it when I trained him." Roach worked in training camps, and in the corner over four fights, as Klitschkos assistant trainer. And in spite of the 6ft 7ins tall Ukrainian, who currently holds the IBF, WBO and IBO heavyweight titles, having defended the world title 10 times in succession, Roach believes Hayes "speed and explosiveness", not to mention his killer instinct when he has an opponent in trouble, are major plusses in his armoury against the bigger man. "I dont see David Haye as the underdog in this fight. I trained Wlad Klitschko, he is a friend, and so is David Haye a friend of mine. Its one of the best fights out there, and a good fight for the heavyweight division," said Roach. "Listen, Klitschkos a very good boxer. Once he gets into a rhythm, and gets that jab going, hes very difficult to beat because he has good power and a size advantage. Hes also one of the best heavyweight athletes Ive ever seen. I said to him one day - Youre a great athlete. But you know what he said to me? "I wish I could fight". The key to beating someone like that is to take their mental confidence away straight away. Haye can do that with his power, but not by boxing Wlad." Roach believes a Haye victory could ignite interest in the heavyweight division. "I like guys who like to fight. Haye believes in himself, he talks a bit of bull, but he's just trying to ignite interest in the fight. He's young, exciting, and charismatic. "Haye's the best thing for the heavyweight division right now, because he comes to fight, he comes to win, and he's a puncher. "That's what heavyweight boxing should be all about. The Klitschko brothers are great boxers but they are boring. They don't take risks. You've got to go for it in this sport, and give 100 per cent. "Manny Pacquiao is popular because he comes to exchange with you, he wants to fight. Once in a while he gets hit, but that is part of the game. Haye is the spark the heavyweight division needs right now."
Once again Roach knows whats hes talking about. Wladimir the cowardly lion is going to sleep on July 2nd! :happy
We'll see how good both these guys are on the 2nd... I fancy Haye for the upset, Wlad is not the beast many think he is
In part, he's very much correct. Wladimir was an offensive minded beast way back when (watch his fight with Mercer for example). I don't think he's necessarily a bad fighter, I think he's not being given the credit he deserves, he's very dangerous in a firefight or a chess-match. If I were David I would be very concerned about moving my head when darting forward with 2 punch combinations.
Roach is absolutely right. Wlad can´t fight, he just can box. That´s why i think he should never be ranked as an ATG. I´m not sure if Haye can capitalize on that though.
Haye will smash Wlad's glass heart into a million tiny little pieces the moment he lands the first Hayemaker on Wlads glass jaw.
haye can do both, that's the difference. He just needs to mix it up and have a good plan and it's his to win
I'm glad Wlad realises his fights are boring as hell....... Haye will hopefully spark this dull oath out in a few rounds! Big ask, But if there is anyone who can..... HAYE CAN!
I tend to believe Haye has the X Factor other opponents didn't have namely, he's young, quite tall and quickest than Wladimir himself. That zone Klit created over his style (grab, jab, push) is easy to destroy, you just need quick hands and style which is extraordinary, Sanders had them all too, look what happened. I'm with Haye, HW would move a bit then.
I´m not saying that Haye can´t fight, i´m just not sure if he really is able to get past that jab. The size and reach advantage of Klitschko is huge. Nevertheless, if there is one fighter out there, who can make Klitschko uncomfortable, then it´s Haye. I really hope he´s backing up his talk.
I respect Wlad as a businessman, but not for his fights...... Snoozefest jabbing your opponent for 8 straight rounds before even risking throwing a right hand. I don't know why he has any fans.?.?.?
